Now that I try to play the game again,I am forced to play maps I don’t want to, go spend things I don’t want to. It is not me playing the game. It is the devs. Here is a hint boys and girls. Let the player play the game. And no the rewards are not worth the crap that you have to jump through just for what? A level up plant? For forcing that crap level upon me I should have gotten every plant up 10 levels. Yes that might be too much but I HATED that level. They are the lamest dumbest more BORING level ever.
Micro-transactions hell

Actually, most popular and useful transactions would be about $5 - not much of a “micro” in those transaction. It has been a while already, but the latest battlez update literally turned PVZ2 into a farming pay-as-you-go game. I understand that developers need to make money, and I don’t mind paying for having a good fun... but this gamed turned into an absurd money-grab: coins, gems, gauntlets, piñatas, power ups, premium plants... it keeps going and going - layers upon layers of paid stuff that became utterly impossible to get without spending money. That said, the game is rather enjoyable first couple of days while it is still mostly strategy and fun. Then, it gets boring and frustrating by trying to corner you into spending money again and again. There are some frustrating gameplay issues too - the new battlez mode is absurdly unbalanced. I tried it and did okay until I competed against “opponents” that had absolutely ridiculous plants - all premium and upgraded to level 20... something that you cannot get even after playing for years without spending a lot of money. How is that fun - no matter what strategy I use and how skilled I am, they would beat me by like 1000% ?!?! That didn’t even feel like bringing a knife to a gunfight - I felt like I brought a feather and tried to tickle everyone holding machine guns to death... needless to say, that was the last game I played. What a shame!
New update takes away a lot of the fun

What happened to the daily challenges? Battlez is fun at first, but tedious with the same zombies every single round.

I’m disappointed by the latest update. The things that kept me coming back have been removed, like the daily quests and opportunities to earn gems through the quests in the log. The battles are really redundant!

Love the game but with the latest update app crashes when your playing events. Please fix asap. Can't do any events

I love the game, but don’t bother with the latest version. There are so many bugs, I doubt is was tested before it was rolled out.

This new update for battlez keeps making my game crash. Whenever I finish a round, it just goes to the home screen. It makes it to where I can't play at all. 5 stars if you can fix this.
March 2018 upgrades

I have been playing this game for years, and PvZ before it. The latest “upgrades” are leaving me less than thrilled. About half the time, the Quest timers say expired, even if I just started one and go back for the next part. It also crashes a lot more than ever before. I’m not a fan of the Battlez, but that’s my problem. I am bothered though, by the disappearance of the other Quests: for diamonds; the “ knock back” and “electrocute” type of Quests”; the kill “50 knights” type of Quest; and the others that have suddenly disappeared. No World Quests have shown up since the first day of the so-called upgrade. This has always been a five star game for me; I play it every day, and have spent a fair amount of $$ buying plants. It is now running about two, two and a half stars for me. I understand there may be glitches with new content, but Expired Quests and lack of variety of Quests are making me much less a fan.

This new battlez update is literally pay2win. I’m getting around 300,000 points with the basic plants while someone who spent 5 bucks on a cauliflower pulls in over a million.
