Confusing Mix of Mechanics

juliusjackson

First things first- this game is NOT optimized for western audiences. The translations are readable for the most part, but word choices and phrasing are confusing and don’t convey sensical ideas. Story wise, there are phenomenal leaps of logic used to push the story, all the while forcing the character that you control to have epiphanies and realizations that the player would be completely oblivious to. For a game that attempts to give you the illusion of choice in story mode and “chance encounters” with the romance options, it completely robs any ability to put yourself in the position of the character. If the devs want the choose your own adventure feel, they have to actually commit to it and not give pointless this-or-that choices that don’t change anything. If they don’t want it, then do away with the mechanic, because it’s pointless. Another odd mechanic: the “battles” that are suppose to mimic arguments that your character has with another, or some battle of will/intimidation/persuasion. There are two types- the first being in the middle of a chapter, the second being the “final boss” confrontation. The final boss confrontation makes sense- it pits the collective strength of you (your servants) against the enemy, meant to ensure that you are investing in your support network instead of blazing through the story with no friction. The middle chapter battles are strange in design and implementation. Two factors in your ability to fight these battles are your energy level and your plot level. The battle is essentially, if your energy is higher than the opponent, you win. I don’t understand why the devs felt the need to pretend that this is a relevant gameplay mechanic when it’s just meant to be added friction to your completion of a chapter. Instead of this fake battle, just require that each step of the chapter be unlocked by a certain amount of energy. Third is the dress up portion of the game, with UI and tag systems shamelessly based off of Love Nikki (most notably.) The dress up portion of the chapters and the dating mechanic have unclear methods of scoring and an abysmal option of clothes to purchase, which can easily be remedied by just adding more clothing options with more diverse qualities (i.e., elegant, cute; lively, gentle.) Some of the dating challenges can’t even be completed to perfect status because there are simply not enough clothing options that fit the criteria. This game is EXTREMELY unpolished and doesn’t quite know what to do with itself. Like many other similar games flooding the market, it steals game mechanics and shoves it into the game without much thought into how it would make sense for the setting and plot. As transparently cheap as that is, it has the potential to become a functionally good game.

Do not play if you don’t want to pay.

Very nice game however it does seem a rip off of Legend of the Phoenix. I like the graphics more on this one. I’ve played it almost every day since it came out and I do find it quite enjoyable. It has a lite of issues though. My biggest issue is that there is a huge problem with the ranking system in this game and they have A LOT of ranking based events. Basically the same players always win every event... and of course these are all paying players. When you win an event you get a big reward, especially if you’re the top 1-5 players, but the rewards DRAMATICALLY drop down after that. The rewards make the winning players even more powerful and thus if you are not constantly spending money on this game, then you will never win (you likely won’t even come close to the top 10). As I’m writing this review there is a current event that gives the #1 player 24 pieces of an item that you need to upgrade your servants (which makes you more powerful). The #6 player in this event only gets 3 pieces of this item and the #11 player only gets 1 piece. That’s a huge slap in the face to all players who try hard in these events but aren’t willing to shell out $20 daily on a game. I myself have spent $35 on this game since launch and I have yet to get in the top 20 players in an event even though I play for an hour or more daily. Eventually I will probably be driven away from this game based on how pay to win it is.

I keep disconnecting?

Iamroseyheart

I really like this game but it keeps saying I disconnected from the server every 5 seconds. It’s starting to irritate me so I might quit playing.

Dodgy

From what is happening now, the game is really dodgy, especially with their VIP players. I want a refund on the money I spent

I just wanna say, the game is great! It fun and pretty. The only issue I have is it keeps logging me out of guest accounts and I have to restart over and over again. I have made like 5 of these guest account because I did not want to enter my email. Each one logged me out after a few days, the first one lasted. And I was actually enjoying the game! It was fun but it was hard to get gold. I had such high power and when I found out it logged me out I was so mad! Even when I logged back onto the other server it still restarted me. They say to bind your guest account but trust me, IT DOES NOT WORK! I LOST EVERYTHING! IM NEVER PLAYING AGAIN! IM TIRED OF LOSING ALL MY ACCOUNTS! FIX THE BINDING ACOUNT THING BECAUSE IT DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE LOST SO MANY ACCOUNTS WERE I’VE BEEN SUCCESFUL. Then just lost my account! You know what I think? I missed the game one day on my 2nd account. And after a few days it logged me out! Beware make sure to log in everyday if you have a guest account! If it still logs you out and you don’t wanna enter your info don’t even bother to play! BINDING THE GUEST ACCOUNT DOES NOT WORK FIX IT PLEASE I LOST SO MANY ACCOUNTS!! GIVE ME BACK MY GUEST ACCOUNT CALLED “kori” PLEASE I’LL GIVE MY EMAIL AND EVERYTHING. PLEASE HELP. I NEED THAT ACCOUNT. FIX THE BINDING THING AND I KNOW I HAVE SAID THE SAME THING A BILLION TIMES BUT FIX IT PLEASE!!

Needs some work

I love this game, but there are a few glitches: 1. I haven’t been receiving my rewards for delegation attempts or debates 2. They place an obstacle to level up that is too hard to achieve (impossible) without purchases. 3. They are censoring words ending in - ing and next word beginning with m. It blocks out your words. So, doing my hair gets blocked. Or, another player is harassing me. Whatever, it’s censored with ****. Because it’s so hard to level up I’m really frustrated about not getting the rewards I earned. Once the issues are corrected I’ll update my review.

Surprisingly, LOVE

I really like how rewarded you feel by this game, there are constantly new achievements and bonuses, etc. If you purchase anything with real money it also unlocks extra rewards left and right, I always feel spoiled. It is not as tedious as similar games that make you ‘dress to progress’, because getting wishes (& wish tree leaves) is relatively easy and you can unlock some really good stuff if you save up for the 10 wishes every time. All that aside the voice acting isn’t the BEST, some much better than others but almost all of the LI’s voices are stilted, and I personally play without them and just imagine like I do when reading regularly. The story is interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing how it unfolds :) I DID however accidentally spend all 200 of the fabric rolls I had been diligently saving up for Qi Mo, on the wrong out ?‍♀️ I couldn’t believe it. I wish you could sell and rebuy, and exchange the different LI’s fabrics for another LI’s, like how you can covert tokens for the different unlockable servant into orbs. Oh! & I wish you guys offered starter & weekly promo codes like Legend of the Phoenix! SPOILERS!!! I’m almost to the end of the main story and have my fingers crossed that Qi Mo is actually a red herring and not the man in black and the MiB is actually Alendi. I didn’t choose to romance him, and honestly he’s the last of them I would, but if he’s the MiB I totally change my opinion. If it’s Qi Mo, nothing changes lol. ?

It’s Fun only when you Pay

The concept of this game is okay, the multiple possibility of outfits is also fun, the story is intriguing but it’s only great when you pay. Collecting the gold coins in this game is tedious, troublesome, and often difficult to achieve. The game has multiple ways to pay to earn said coins but you can’t enjoy much else because of the pay to play.

Only one complaint...

PeanutbutterjellytimePB&J

It’s definitely pay to win. There are some things you can’t do without gold, fastest way to get gold? Real money. Want a boost to actually be able to do sketching? Have to be VIP[#] since there’s different levels of VIP depending on how much gold you’ve bought. It’s kinda sad because there’s absolutely no way I’ll ever rank high enough on the charts to ever get rewards because I just don’t have the money. I can’t buy energy as much as someone with a ton of gold can and therefore I can’t go through the story as fast because I have to wait for things to replenish so I can slowly build up my energy again. Overall the game is interesting, I like the dress up even if the best stuff is gold locked, or event currency locked (want to guess how you get remotely enough event currency to buy anything?) The story is interesting but the choices you make don’t seem to really matter, even if you choose to do the opposite of something, the story will find a way to make you do it anyway. For example I chose “walk away” for an interaction and the dialogue came back with “you try but [npc name] won’t let you leave” so as interesting as the story is to read, the “choices” could be left out completely and it wouldn’t make a difference. However, I’m not counting that as a complaint since I find the story very interesting and it’s disappointing I can’t move along as quickly as I want to. :( There’s a lot to do and it can be overwhelming, and it’s not always the most clear on what something is or how something effects something else. It’s very interwoven and everything flows together, which is nice, it’s just hard to tell what’s the best way to do something before you’ve wasted a ton of time doing it wrong.
