Overlive's core gameplay is exploring the city and uncovering the story in the style of a "choose your path" interactive story gamebook. Survive by exploring 18 locations and finding one of 8 possible endings!

All decisions have consequence; small decisions early in the game can have profound effects later! Meet other survivors and help or exploit them. Train 9 different skills (melee, firearms, explosives, grappling, stealth, lockpicking, engineering, perception, computers) to overcome obstacles during exploration. This has always been a wonderful novel / survival rpg. One of my favorite classic app store games. I wish they'd get a lot of money for a sequel. Some bugs: on iPhone x the melee swipes do not work at all. So generally all your combat will be using ammo. That's a big problem. Also, I asked years ago for them to shorten the app name to "Overlive" so it's not truncated on the home screen. Devs said they'd do it but they never did...

The game has incredible role playing features and it’s combat is well for a role playing game, however I would absolutely love a sandbox version where you have unlimited supplies and named events instead of having them anonymous. I warn you action hooked gamers, this will be a bit boring in terms of combat and other action related components. Overall the game will be great for role players, grinders, you tubers, and people who need a game to play on your commutes.

This game is amazing. The tap based combat is simple but fun enough to make battles feel proportionate to your weapons/power level. The more table top rpg moments are gratifying, and the psychological aspect is both unique and compelling. I'm extremely surprised this game isn't in more of the game collections.

Want a zombie survival rpg? Well I've been wanting one and this is the best I've tried so far. Well worth a couple bucks. Suggestions: 1: Have more colors available for search points so that each room or story within an area is a different color. It's starts to get random when you don't show which locations were just unlocked for more than one turn. Some way of distinguishing which events are associated with which others and in which sequence would be great. 2: A status button onscreen at locations so you don't have to exit twice to see your skills and equipment. 3: it would be great if you added on screen dice rolls. 4: make it more obvious when you get new weapons. The same hammer and pistol icons are used throughout the game and it makes it feel like you never get new weapons. 5: character classes. Maybe a soldier, a scavenger and a medic? It would probably just affect starting stats but it would ad an extra level of awesome.

Overlive is a great RPG-style zombie survival game, offering an ideal balance between engagement and performance. Unlike many of its competitors, this is not a first-person 3D real-time game (thankfully!); Overlive is a superbly illustrated 2D turn-engagement type game, a design choice which enables you to play at your own rate. Most challenges are resolved by comparing skill level to task difficulty (the traditional RPG dice-roll system), while combat is handled via a simple yet entertaining minigame. Overlive's events are presented by very well-written text encounters, and often include options to further engage with the player. For fans of the traditional RPG game structure, Overlive is an excellent game.
