Still the Champion Of Poccast Apps

I've been using Overcast for a couple years now and it's one of my favorite apps on my phone. I listen to a ton of podcasts, roughly about 5 hours per day, so it's important to me to use a player that has good features but is easy to use and easy to master. The official Apple podcast app doesn't meet any of that criteria, but Overcast does, in spades! It has a ton of features, a dark mode, haptics, smart playlists, AND it's dead simple to use. I use Overcast more than any other app on my phone and I just love it so much.

Beautifully designed app with great features for the podcast listener. I used Downcast for over a year and it took me 10 minutes to fall in love with Overcast. The extra features are worth the cost if that interests you. ADDENDUM: I have been using Overcast for YEARS now and it is by far the best podcasting app I have ever tried. The audio settings are incredible and really makes a difference. I recommend this app without hesitation.

Having read the blog post about VoiceBoost 2 before updating the app, so I decided to see if I could tell the difference. Before updating, I played an older, lower quality podcast from my feed. The highs of the audio were grating over my HomePod, in contrast the lows sounded a bit muffled. I then updated the app, and continued playing the same podcast. The difference was immediately noticeable and jaw dropping. The podcast whose audio was inconsistent and grating, was suddenly incredibly smooth and clear. It took audio that was previously hard to listen to, and transformed it into a positive listening experience. While overcast has always been my preferred podcast app, VoiceBoost2 changes the way I hear the audio itself, and it is now an indispensable part of the way I experience the medium.

The inventiveness, creativity and design are pure genius. This amazing user-friendly podcast player has so much under the hood, from variable speed, dark theme and sound enhancement that nobody has come even close to matching performance and reliability. The subscription is very fair and well worth the price of admission.

One missing feature

As much as I love this app it’s still missing one important feature. Looking at the list of episodes for a show, you can see those you have listened to. There are times when I want to mark an episode as played like in the Apple podcast app. Please take time to look into providing a way to mark episodes as played instead of just deleting them from the show list.
