Does not sync with Mojave anymore

nickname is taken, please...

If you are on ios14 and Mojave, you lose syncing. I will no longer use Numbers since I had an iPod Touch, probably ten years ago. I recommend Excel or Google Sheets or Libre Office depending on your privacy and sharing model. I see little reason to move to Catalina. I tried it and went back. It’s nice to have free OS updates, but I believe the updates should be decent enough that they feel like paying for. I hope I don’t have to switch away from Keynote. I get MS through my employer, so it would be better to have a office solution that will sync without having to rely on a web browser. Thanks for Numbers. I thought it was a joke when I first tried it, but there was not much competition on iOS in early days. I could easily track habits on an iPod Touch before Excel or Sheets on iOS. Cloud sync is expected these days. As far as I am concerned, RIP Numbers.

What happened to the function editor? The whole thing is just too plain and bare. Maybe good for advanced power user but not for beginners and intermediate who need a bit more guidance.

No backward compatibility for older devices

RGEarley

Updated Numbers changes the format of spreadsheets so they can no longer be edited with older versions of Numbers. First it was an older Mac running a no longer supported MacOS, now it’s my iPhone 6 which is stuck on iOS 12. I have a spreadsheet I’ve had for a long time and like to be able to update from any device. It’s very simple, doesn’t need any of the new features. But I can’t edit it any more from the iPhone; if I make a copy for the iPhone, I won’t be able to edit it on the iPad. If the new version gave the option to update the file, or to “save in old format” that would be fine. I could go to Google Sheets but prefer Numbers because of it’s security.

10.1

Ravin' mad

10/2020 Apple people who update apps must think their users are idiots. Now every time I go to enter data there’s another step. You have to hit edit so you don’t mess up your own spreadsheet. Any significant changes still have to be accomplished via laptop. So all the bells and whistles are just spitting in the wind. One star because most of the time it syncs with Macbook — except when it doesn’t. Old version:Well we got the number keypad back, BUT none of the convenient menus that you could do date, time, etc with. E.g., you want to log your daily run time for 4 miles, 30:23: before you could do minutes and seconds from the menu. No can do. Back to qwerty and even the it won't work with it. I cannot figure out why you would screw up a functioning system. Still a zero. Give me a break! Do Apple people sit up late at night and tweet each other on how to add more steps to an app? Now you can no longer change a date with a tap of a keyboard, or reformat a cell with a stroke. Creating a Numbers spreadsheet on iPhone or iPad is worse than ever. Thanks.

Used to work

StealthMonkey27

With the latest update, every time you open the app to edit spreadsheet, it resets your tab, scroll position, and puts it in view-only mode. I edit my spreadsheet daily; it went from being 1 step to 4 steps. Extremely annoying. Going to have to find a replacement.

Twice the size of Google sheets or Microsoft excel

JesusBenNazareth

The App itself takes up half a gig of flash memory. That’s twice as much storage as Google sheets or Microsoft excel.

Super Hard to Use and Bugged

Martins-NBK

Despite being an app that is hard to use for doing the simplest of things with a spreadsheet, now it’s bugged. I click to edit the value of a cell, switch to a different app to look something up, come back to the app and I can no longer edit what I was typing in the formula text box! I click, click, and it won’t do anything. Im forced to delete everything and start over. But hey, I cant find out the value I want because I can switch apps and come back and edit. Lame.

Worse than google sheets

worsethangooglesheets

It wont let me even open up a template to create a sheet. Like i literally cannot use this app at all, every time I try to open one it says error.

Buggy (Keeps freezing)

MRY Sociable

I like some of the new features (e.g., Edit with Forms) but the app freezes often in the middle of editing and completely closing/reopening app (multiple times) does not resolve issue. This bug makes the app pretty much unusable for reliability reasons.
