Artwork is awesome. The storyline very good. The puzzles are challenging. Good game.

It's OK

Like the look and feel, but wanted more of the hidden object aspect...and less of the 'making roads'. The game was a little buggy. Actually, a lot buggy - when it came to the combination lock. If I could get that #%*! lock to drop down even once, I was lucky. And you couldn't reset the puzzle or go out of the scene and back in, to start over. I kept having to hard-close the game and restarting back to where I had to unscrew that blasted handle over and over. That was something else kind of needed, in places...better instruction and reset options. When I got my guy over to the fence with the wire cutter, past all those blasted spotlights, I ended up just skipping the rest, because I tried every way to clip that darn fence.

Annoying for bugs and lack of features

The graphics and the story are fine. There are too many places where you get caught in a puzzle or action without instructions. Can't use hints and the skip option is non responsive. On fact if one goes to options/help there is only very basic controls, tells you to go to forums for help. Then you can't exit the help screens w.o. Killing the program. This is getting deleted.

Waste of money

I have played almost all the Big Fish games. This one is terrible. You get stuck in puzzles, without anyway to get out. Unless you delete the app and start over. Very disappointed.

Good game, short, but absorbing…still some minor annoyances

I thought this game was pretty good, though a tad short. I beat it in one sitting over a few hours. However, most hidden object games can be completed in one or two sittings on the PC, if you get sucked into the game - as I often do. Considering PC titles of this sort would run you between $9.99-$19.99, you're still getting a deal at $1.99. The gameplay is rather fun and not overly challenging, however, it should be said that it's not always intuitive and the task button will become your friend. On more than one occasion you will be left looking at the screen and wondering, "What am I supposed to be finding?" In such instances, click the task list (though it's not very helpful on the Golden Cats forged ID puzzles). I wouldn't call this a true hidden object game, it's more of a collection of puzzles with a little bit of search and find in between. None of the puzzles are all too difficult, but it would be nice to have a better hint system. The only instances where you are able to access a hint system in this game is when you are actually doing hidden object tasks, but such tasks only comprise about 25% of the game. The rest of the time you'll be solving puzzles and if you get stuck, you'll either have to back out of the game or wait until the 'skip bar' is filled and skip the puzzle (and any puzzles attached to that puzzle thereafter). While the skip function is nice and allows a frustrated gamer a mechanism to enjoy their game rather than getting stuck in a puzzle they just can't solve, a Professor Layton styled hint system would be greatly appreciated here. I'd certainly trade the skip mechanism for an improved hint system. The graphics are great and the artwork is gorgeous, I really enjoyed the classic noire vibe that really lent itself to a private investigator/ "detective story". The voice acting is nice and the comic style cut scenes are very well done as is the music and ambient effects. Bottom line, if you dig puzzles and a comic noire style and don't mind the $1.99 price tag, give Nick Chase a shot. If you're looking for a true hidden object game or don't fancy yourself a hint-less puzzle solver, maybe pass or wait for a price drop. If this app ever drops to $0.99, I'd consider it a steal ***It should also be noted that the "making roads" game that appears several times throughout this title is very annoying and I didn't enjoy it one bit. It's reminiscent of the game Pipe Dreams, for you old school Windows Adventure Pack players out there.***

Ehhh ok

I like the game but wish there was more than one mystery to solve... I would not pay for it again had I know I would be able to solve in one sitting. Please add more levels!
