App has become too buggy for me

Bniem11

I’ve used Narwhal for years but the past few months I’ve had a bunch of issues. My complaints include crashing, Ads auto-launching, and other audio like podcasts turning off when I go in the app intermittently. I like the interface and general usability but the bugs have gotten so bad that I’m switching apps.

Why the heck is here no sound on gifs?

Bro, do you even program?

Love this app

I’ve been using this app for probably 3 years and mostly love it. It’s missing chat I think but it’s worth the loss.

Lots of ads that auto open and won’t stop until I close the app entirely

Still my top choice

Other than the lack of widgets, Narwhal is still my top choice of reddit apps. I love the minimal ui design. I especially like only seeing gold awards - no interest in seeing all the others. It is simple, quick, and does exactly what i want... gives access to reddit content without a ton of bloated trash on top.

Used to be great

DailyUberUser

For months now, the app asks for FaceID when closing the app, but not usually when opening it. This is very disruptive and annoying and should have been fixed by now. I’ve tried reinstalling, etc.

Not what it used to be

Sir Epsi

Ads opening on their own, music or popcasts or audio books interrupted by ads (full cut in the audio, can’t listen and browse at the same time. Trying to restart whatever you were listening to doesn’t work as the ad just cuts the sound again). Videos you actually want to watch not playing with sound. It didn’t used to be like this, but the app has been progressively getting worse over the past few months

Functional App Riddled with Ads

cripwalking

I bought the ad free forever option back when I had an iPhone 6s. Went to Android and then came back to narwhal with a 12 this year. I’m getting riddled with ads without the ability to restore my purchase. I’ve reached out to the devs on Reddit and someone (random user not a dev) literally told me to try reinstalling and restoring purchase. Tried that multiple times. It still doesn’t work. Ultimately no dev reached out or even responded. On top of that, I have Reddit premium for some gold and platinum I received which is supposed to remove ads at all from Reddit. Still get spammed with ads on narwhal. It’s not about the $3.99. I paid for ad free forever already. I don’t want to pay again for what I already own. Otherwise very functional app. The search button is missing from threads so you won’t be able to find a specific comment even if you tried. The true black mode is quite nice on the eyes when browsing at night. It is kind of obvious that the devs don’t really care now and just rake in the ad revenue every month. Also when you make long posts, the app will glitch and not show you what you’re typing after a few paragraphs. It’s a super easy bug to replicate. I’m sure someone is on it to fix. It’s only been years. Would change the review to a 3.5 stars if there was some customer service or passion from the devs.

Something broke & can no longer search subreddits

MichelleSmith902

I can no longer “enter a subreddit” using the search feature.

User beware

The official Reddit app is now better than this one
