Decent, but lacking in some areas.

Seeing an official MLP: FiM app released to the App Store was a dream come true for this brony. Only problem is, it was just a story book. Oh well, that's okay. Nothing wrong with reading. Upon seeing the app in action, however, I noticed there were some definite cut-backs in creativity or even effort. On more than a few pages, you can tell that the stock vector images used for promo material are just slapped onto a scene. Characters don't seem to interact with one another on the page rather than just stand there and look at things, or at the "camera". On more than one page, the vector of Twilight is extremely odd looking… Again, leading me to believe someone did some quick editing in Photoshop. On another picture, it's an obvious edit of Twilight's typical promo picture with her mouth turned upside down to make her look upset. (The page with her in bed.) The video cutscenes are a nice touch, however, although the music is clearly pulled straight from the final recordings of episodes. For instance, the Winter Wrap-Up song used is identical to the scene in the "Winter Wrap-Up" episode (using the instrumental version of the song) where Twilight is once again startled by the snakes, and climbs a tree. You can even hear the hissing of the snakes and the "groan" from Twilight that came from said episode. Still, it's much better than no audio, or even some random placeholder music. I understand that this is a children's book, and it's made for young kids who might not notice these things, but at the same time, that doesn't mean you should just try to make a quick buck. A little more effort could have been put into this, as the majority of it is actually nicely done. Make the pictures match what is going on in the story, and you might come away with a winner. Make me proud, Ruckus/Hasbro!

Update is very buggy

Tom Clowder

After only a couple of complete “read-throughs”, the new version crashes reliably, usually during the transition to the second tilt activity. I too see only a blank icon labeled “pie” in place of Pinkie Pie. Somepony slipped up very badly by letting this out the door in this poor condition.

Awesome

Greatest app on the app store!

Not for bronies

Brony Guy

Bronies, this is not for you. Even hardcore fans will be disappointed. There is little character interaction, and the personalities of each character fail to shine. There is neither kind of plot, and the cutscenes stink. The audio is strait out of the episodes (you can hear snakes hissing and other stuff) and the games are lame. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the show is awesome. Good for little girls, but not for teens or adults.

Great app for kids, not so much for bronies

Bannanasonthemoon

This app was clearly designed for children. However, even with that in mind, this could've been done better. Vectors are recycled constantly, Twilight looks very strange at some points, and the story contradicts the show at times. I know the younger fans of the show aren't as analytic as bronies, but this app still could've been executed better. However, this is still a neat little app. The story is OK. I often found myself giggling at little indirect references, usually unintentional. There needs to be more games, but the few there are are average and enjoyable. My favorite part of this app, however, is the ability to record dialogue and narrate the story yourself. I had loads of fun in not only making the story profane and strange, but changing the story around and making my own little additions. So parents: If your kid is a fan of the show, I highly reccomend this. They will enjoy the story and like the games. Bronies: There isn't as much for you, but it's still a cool little app you can have some fun with.

More please

I love the show and I love the app and so do my kids. Please more MLP:FIM apps for kids and for bronies!!!!

Awesome app! Kid's favorite!

I received this app as a gift and am thoroughly impressed! We've used it for a few weeks and I haven't had any kind of problems with it at all. As opposed to a few other children's apps I've seen, I feel like this My Little Pony app is beneficial to my daughter's education. Reading along with Twilight Sparkle makes reading fun, and there are even some short little games in between. The matching game is just a little advanced for my 3 year old but she loves it nonetheless, and I've really seen an improvement on her motor skills during the game where you tilt the phone to guide Applejack through the maze. Being able to record your own voice is an added bonus for us. My husband is in the Navy and often goes on deployments. I'm really looking forward to having him record his voice once he comes home so my daughters can hear him telling the story, even when he's out to sea. The only negative thing I could say about the app is that it's so fun and interesting, my kids never want to give my phone back :)

A very happy little girl

Starbuxsqueen

I can sit here and say the graphics are great, the story was cute, the games were fun but I'm not the target audience. My 5yr old loves it. She wants to reread it all the time, her favorite parts are the games and finding the sparkle surprises on each page. I recommend this to anyone with a little girl who loves my little ponies :)

I am a 19 year old college student who is an avid watcher of the Friendship is Magic television show and all I have to say is that this game is a great learning tool for smaller children and I believe there should be more like this.

Not bad!

A bit pricy, but good to distract kids & bronies!
