Perhaps you are having trouble locating your BMW in a large parking lot at night or you are unsure if you have locked your parked BMW. With My BMW Remote, you will be able to access remote services to help you in these situations and more, providing you convenience and peace-of-mind. The remote functions of the My BMW Remote app provide you with a connection to your BMW via the mobile phone network.
The My BMW Remote app can be used exclusively by customers with an active BMW Assist contract. 2014 and later vehicles, except X6, also require that the vehicle is equipped with the Remote Services option (option code 6AP).
• After you have downloaded the app, you will need your personal access information provided in your BMW Assist contract provided to you by your dealership, in order to setup the app. If you are unsure of your username or password, please call BMW Assist toll-free 1-888-333-6118. Please be advised, if you have recently created an account for the My BMW ConnectedDrive portal (www.bmwusa.com/mybmwconnecteddrive), you must log in to the app using those credentials.
Remote functions include the following:
• Remote Door Lock & Unlock: send a remote command to lock your vehicle or initiate a call to BMW Assist to unlock your vehicle.
• Online search (powered by Google™): search for local businesses, restaurants, and more and transfer details to your vehicle's navigation system.
• Vehicle Finder*: display current vehicle position on a map
• Remote Sound Horn: send a remote command to sound the horn of your BMW to help locate the vehicle.
• Remote Flash Headlights: send a remote command to flash the headlights of your BMW to help locate the vehicle.
• Comfort Ventilation (NEW feature for My BMW Remote): Send a remote command to activate the ventilation immediately or schedule a time to activate the ventilation in the vehicle.
*Note: Vehicle Finder only works if the vehicle is within 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) from the iPhone and the vehicle’s ignition is turned off.
The following vehicles will have Remote Door Lock & Unlock, Online Search, and Vehicle Finder available:
• 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, or 6 Series produced March 2008 or later
• X5 SAV or X6 SAC produced April 2008 or later
• Z4 Roadster from Model Year 2009 or later
• X1 SAV from Model Year 2013 or later
The following vehicles will have Remote Sound Horn and Remote Flash Headlights available, in addition to Remote Door Lock & Unlock, Online Search, and Vehicle Finder:
• X3 SAV from Model Year 2011 or later
• X4 SAV from Model Year 2015 or later
• X5 SAV from Model Year 2014 or later
• 2 Series from Model Year 2014 or later
• 3 Series Sedan from Model Year 2012 or later
• 3 Series Sports Wagon from Model Year 2014 or later
• 3 Series Gran Turismo from Model Year 2014 or later
• 4 Series from Model Year 2014 or later
• 5 Series Gran Turismo from Model Year 2010 or later
• 5 Series Sedan from Model Year 2011 or later
• 6 Series from Model Year 2012 or later
• 7 Series from Model Year 2009 or later
Additionally, the following vehicles will have the ability to use Comfort Ventilation:
• All Model Year 2014 and later vehicles except Z4 Roadster.
The My BMW Remote app is available free of charge to you as a BMW Assist customer. Usage is based on the general contractual and usage conditions for mobility services with BMW Assist.

Worthless...I can't believe a prestigious carmaker like BMW has such crappy apps. BMW should be embarrassed. This one is completely useless to me. My $65,000 2014 X5 has never been able to be unlocked by the app. (It's embarrassing that our app is so bad but my friend loves his Hyundai app) So, I have to call the customer service #, how stupid is that? And then hope to remember my password? I can never remember it, then I have to give them my VIN? Big deal--that is not secure at all, anyone can just look on the windshield to get the number! Hyundai and GMC have way better apps that actually function. GMC Denali, you can turn on the actual air conditioning or heat, not just a fan ventilating, and turn on seat ventilation. We should be able to close the windows and sunroof easily from the app. It's either biometrically or password protected that should be more than enough. Lately mine won't even lock the doors, honk or flash the lights because of server issues. So I NEVER update any apps unless they get good reviews. BMW, you need to go back to the drawing board! Maybe hire GMC's or Hyundai's app designers? Annoying that this is so useless, maybe I'll get a Hyundai or Denali next instead of BMW? Come on, it's 2016! Get with the times.

Decent app but room for improvement. I agree wth the other comments that you should not need to call to unlock. I would like to see the option to lower\raise convertible top. In Florida, the rain can come out of nowhere and being able to raise the top without running outside would be great. If safely is a concern, make teh feature only work if the car is off.

So - used to work ok until they just killed all functionality for this for all cars 2013 and earlier...seems like you should be able to own a $70K car for longer than a couple of years before they start telling you it's to old to support...and would be nice if they at least provided some warning or work around. But according to their phone tech, they have no interest in customer support or satisfaction

It's become less functional over time and now it says I don't have an "appropriate" vehicle. Can't believe I paid so much money for this. BMW should be embarrassed.

Intermittently worked for a while, but now it does not allow me to log in, reset password, or create another account. This will be my last BMW. Their support for electronics is 10 years behind other manufacturers. Unacceptable for the price!

Worthless app. It worked for about a week even though half the time the requests would fail. Now it won't let me log in even though the log in credentials are correct.

downloaded this for a 2013 328xi i just bought, registered everything online and logged in and it fails 19/20 tries if I try to just do something simple like flash lights, it gets to the server and then fails to get to the car. this is garbage for such an expensive “high end” car, the app in my cheap jeep worked 1000 times better

I use my Touch login and the screen just stays black with BMW logo. It never launches. It's frustrating.
