• Find Plants for Location Feature also known as “What plants can I grow in my house?” Solution: Do you have a place where you want to grow a plant, but you’re not sure which one will survive there? With the new update, you’ll be able to search for plants based on the light available in that location!

• Copy plant names to clipboard for Web searches: If you’re big on researching plants, we’ve made the process a little faster… long-press on any plant name in the plant detail page to copy to your clipboard for easy pasting into web searches.

Why you’ll love MQ GreenThumb:
It's difficult to visually distinguish the difference between "bright light" vs "dappled sunlight", especially on overcast days, or if you've just moved from a dark room to a bright room; how bright is "bright", right? The GreenThumb app offers a tangible answer to a cloudy question (pun-intended), "How much light is there?" in your home, greenhouse, or garden. It really takes the guess work out of relying on our eyes to determine how much light is too much or not enough.

Both functional and easy to use, MQ GreenThumb offers clear descriptions and pictures, as well as the associated light ranges required for each plant; the optimal light ranges are conveniently integrated with the light meter to help you find the best location to place every plant. This is the ONLY plant-specific app available that uses your device camera as a light meter. Simply place your phone in the area in which you wish to grow your plants and watch the light meter measure how much light is there (in foot-candles or lux) and show you how much is required for any specific plant. No longer will your cactus shrivel up into a skeletal shell in a darkened corner of your house, because you'll know it requires at least 3,000 foot-candles to grow and flourish!

Did you know that you can grow your own avocado tree indoors?

Or that you can grow a bouquet of Calla Lilies, fit for a wedding, right in your own kitchen?

Or that Aloe plants have been used for centuries to promote healthy skin and even Cleopatra's cosmetics contained the succulent plant?

When I bought the app everything worked perfectly until I navigated myself to the how to guide. When you open up the how to guide, the pages are consistently blank. Please stop this issue as soon as possible!

A valuable tool for house plants
Need more cams.

I grow plants, primarily carnivorous plants, under lights. Some stay indoors all year while others winter indoors. In the wild, most carnivorous plants grow in partial shade to full sun. Providing the right light is essential. This app is quick and easy to use. Although I don't have any way to check its measurements, they fall within the expected range. One upgrade that would be valuable would be the ability to record a reading. The best angle for taking a reading is not always the best angle for reading the screen. Nonetheless, I think this will be a valuable tool for anyone who raises plants indoors.

Program works ok, after measuring light, you can see what plants grow in that light. Bad thing, my iPhone 5c display is washed out and can't read display unless i tilt phone, which of course drops light measurement number.

Crashes upon open in 8.1.2

It worked when I was on 7 though, and I liked it when it worked.

Useful but needs more plants
ninfreak44

This app is useful for various houseplants and measuring the light intensity of a given area. However the feature of matching the plants that will grow to the intensity is severely lacking (especially for a paid app). Things like tomatoes and peppers which are super common are not listed. This would get a five for more plants.

Doesn’t work with 8.3
P Gollhardt

I just downloaded the app on my iPhone 5s/iOS 8.3. Unfortunately, when I try to open it after going through the “help” section on how to create a diffuser, it appears briefly and disappears just as fast. What a disappointment. Don’t bother spending the $1.99.

Bugs
Jelly bean 10 9 8

Needs a fix for iphone 6 It immediately crashes with each attempt to even open the app!!!

Useless Subjective. Tells you to tape "white paper to phone"
Hauwis2

The readings on this meter are completely inconsistent the reason for that is because of the diffuser apparatus that they have you construct out of paper and tape this apparatus is no special instructions on what type of paper to use so the thickness and weight of the paper you use drastically alter is the footcandle reading. This is not a accurate means of discovering the light levels in your growing space

Unusable iPhone 6
Chickadee China

So buggy it's unusable. Crashes every time I try to tap "How to Make a Diffuser." Light meter doesn't register any light. Tapping calibrate causes crashing. Refund please!
