Another Platinum Elite that LOVES Marriott's hotels, but HATES Marriott's app....

Myklrl

I am Marriott Rewards Platinum Elite member for several years now. Marriott hotels are great. This app is AWFUL. I've had to stay at Hilton hotels off and on this year and have found their app to be MILES ahead. Here are a few comparisons and basic necessities: -Hilton's app lets you select your exact room during mobile check in. Marriott's does not. -Hilton's app provides loyalty account history and activity within the app. Marriott's redirects to their website. -Marriott needs to add the Rewards Category Level of the hotel clearly in the app. I should not have to dig around through their website to find out the hotel category. Makes me feel like they don't want me to know! -The apple wallet functionality is bland (plain blue card for my Platinum status) and doesn't provide important details like reservation hotel rate. -The app crashes far too often. Far more than any other travel app I have ever used. Multiple times daily when all other travel apps are working fine. Marriott needs a complete overhaul of its IT department if this is the best they can do!

Normally 5 stars, failing to login on 9.3.4

Normally a reliable app. Works well for what it needs to do. Today did not send notification asking to check-in to hotel. Ran app and it is failing to log in to account. Running iOS 9.3.4 (iPhone SE) and app is up to date. 8/22/2016 8:42pm CST

I would give it zero.

Marriott invest some money in the app to make it working

Poor quality app

Moe Lassus

App is poorly written and has not provided any benefit. As of today it won't even let me log in to my account anymore.

Not Working

Can't log in says scope is invalid....

Can't even log in

I know my creds, can log into the website just fine. Can't log in through the app though, get 403 permission denied.

It's like they want you to stay someplace else

Here's how Marriott treats their members looking to redeem points for a hotel stay: log into the app, select payment with points, choose a location, tap on a hotel... AND IT REDIRECTS YOU TO THEIR MOBILE WEBSITE?! Log in again (hopefully your password is weak, because you get forced into typing it even though the "app" uses Touch ID - but not the mobile website, nope! Ditch whatever company you're outsourcing this app to and go with a real development team. We're all sick of this app which is just a front end to a really poorly made mobile website. It was junk before, and its still junk now. This "app" is just a thinly veiled version of their mobile website... but somehow even worse (useless, annoying and odd animations just tossed in give it the feel of the mobile site mashed up with a 12 year old's PowerPoint presentation). Oh yeah, and Bing maps? Seriously? Have you even attempted to use it on the iPhone? It's really hard, and because of the way its completely not integrated, I can't even copy and paste the hotel address into a native app for directions so I'm stuck going and searching in apple maps or google maps for hotels by the same name in the same city and checking the address so I can get turn by turn directions there. Meanwhile, competitors like holiday inn have very well done apps that are actually native iPhone apps, not just some janky wrapper around a poorly done mobile web interface. Get serious and fix it Marriott.

Constantly demands your password

TooFastForITunes

This app would be really helpful except...it demands that I re-enter my password every time I use it. So maybe I have a reservation tonight and maybe I don't. Who knows?!

Marriott

Since you upgraded, this app dose not open, it opened to a page with the Marriott logo only and will not allow me to do anything

So frustrated! The app won't show my reservation unless I enter all the information such as confirmation number etc. THEN it won't let me check in early, even though I got the "check-in" email. So. I deleted the app to give it a big reset. Can't even get the app back on my phone. Marriott is a huge company. Surely they could hire someone to fix this mess!! Makes Mariott look a bit behind when compared to Hilton.
