Great, Needs Minor Improvement

AnDrap56

This has become my favorite ebook app since Apple Books was removing my books from my device so I’d have to constantly redownload them—often without getting the book covers back. I tried out a few different alternatives, and KyBook came out on top. There are a couple things that could be improved, however: 1. The bar at the bottom of the iPhone X is always on. This is very annoying in dark-mode. 2. There’s no auto-switch between day and night themes. Preferably a choice between switch at brightness, sunrise/sunset, or another set time. 3. The sketches (an absolutely awesome feature, by the way) don’t link with the text, so if you switch to landscape mode and it doesn’t fit anymore. If these features were added, this would be an all-star app.

Pretty good e-reader

I get it; software developers have to eat. But I find the release of “new” versions of payment apps to be irksome — especially when one has just paid for a previous version. There has to be a cleaner, more equitable method of handling this problem. As other reviewers have noted, the developer of KyBook has supplemented the pay structure of this app by allowing users to “subscribe”, which allows the syncing of e-book metadata, reading positions, bookmarks, etc. I have no philosophical objection to this; but no real interest in it either. The interface for 3 is better than 2’s, but not a *lot* better. I still sometimes struggle a bit trying to figure out how to do something. And it sometimes takes quite a few taps to complete a task that I think should require fewer. And, perhaps because it’s a relatively new app, there are a few other quirks; for example, certain app sequences cause the text to reflow in a rather distracting/annoying fashion. This is something of a “ jackknife” app; that is, it does a lot of thing well. There are more specialized apps that can perform better in certain circumscribed circumstances. For example, I’ve noticed that GoodReader will work with certain problematic PDFs which KyBook chokes on. But I *do* appreciate that jackknife quality of Kybook’s. Finally, I’ll note that this app is under active development. That’s a decided plus when you note that development in older, more established reading apps is negligible or has stopped completely.

Reads nearly anything and does it pretty darned well

I purchased this in order to read djvu files, which is an unfortunately obscure format. But I find myself turning to this to read PDFs and ebooks as well — it’s attractive and fast and customizable. I have one quibble; the library and collections interface is a little confusing. But that’s not really the most important part of a reader anyway. Also, I once asked the developer for something (to remove the home bar indicator on the iPhone X and up). I interpreted his response as a snarky dismissal, but it was hardly a week later before that enhancement showed up in the app. So mea culpa there.

Fantastic! ... and no subs required.

Great app and great developer. Glad to see an updated version. The App is awesome and fully functional without any sub. We use it in all of my graduate school classes. I do wish we could select which book thumbnail to use for folders. The APP USERS need to learn basic reading comprehension. A subscription is NOT REQUIRED... The sub is ONLY for syncing to the developers specific servers ( like if you have multiple devices and your icloud is out of space ). I use icloud instead (no app sub) with multiple devices and my books are accessible on everything. You could also just not sync things. I think the sub being titled ‘Pro’ confuses the non-reading users. Its more of a sync sub, not an app sub, and is not required.

Why not supporting chm format??

Mmahdi91

One of the best ebook reader after checking many apps. It will be perfect if you support chm format too, like the previous version. Why don't you give your previous version owner some discount? Should we buy the next version after paying for this version and even more for a subscription for syncing our data over the icloud?

3D Touch

Все хорошо, только ВЕРНИТЕ 3D TOUCH. С ним так удобно было быстро искать в словаре слова. ПОЖАЛУЙСТА!!!!!

Please bring back 3D Touch!

虎猫ちゃん

This is a great app, but for some reason one of the best features was removed in the most recent update. I actually postponed updating the app because of it (I wish I held on a little longer). I really liked being able to use 3D touch on a word to quickly get the definition for it. I understand it was replaced with "fast selection", but I've only gotten that to work twice for me. Please bring the feature back!

Amazing!

LevLion

This is a high quality app! Excellent reading experience for all major e-book formats. Deep cataloging features: customizable tags, collections, and more. Cloud files are loaded on demand smartly and can be managed directly from the app. Overall, probably the best e-reader/library manager that exists.

Version is better than this version
