Our kids LOVE the iPhone and iPod Touch! So, we are continuing to develop fun applications that stimulate and inspire children to learn and practice math both at home and at school.

Kids Math Fun~Fifth Grade has 12 unique activities focused on Percentages, Fractions, and Decimals. Kids Fraction Fun is designed to help children in Grades Four, Five and Six practice, master, and gain confidence adding, subtracting, multiplying, and finding the equivalence for Percentages, Fractions, and Decimals. All the questions are randomly generated, but are designed with internal rules to be practical and solvable by children at these grade levels.

Children can gain confidence by doing practice problems with unlimited time, or they can build proficiency by selecting "Minute Math" to see how many problems they can answer with a time limit. The app defaults to 10 problems and 60 seconds, but these can be changed in the SETTINGS area of the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Teachers are using the Kids Math Fun applications in their classrooms to reinforce math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division concepts. Considering their comments, we added a “Double Dare” feature so children can expand their math skills by mastering the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction. A “Try Again” feature allows children to develop mastery by attempting a problem again if they get it wrong.

A new “Show Scores” button allows children and parents to see the high scores for all 12 regular and all 12 “Minute Math” activities.

A score board in the right hand corner, shows how many addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division problems have been completed along with the totals for correct and wrong answers.   Graphics include:   Smiling kids, kids playing outdoors, healthy fruit and vegetable snacks, boats, and buildings.

Total Practice Problems can be set between 5 and 100 problems, the Minute Math Timer can be set between 1/2 minute and 10 minutes, and High Scores can be cleared by turning the Clear All High Scores switch to ON and then running the app. At the request of parents and teachers, these settings are outside the app under the SETTINGS BUTTON on the iPhone or iPod Touch home page.
