Very useful study aid

TheUserDylan

First of all ignore the complaints from earlier reviewers because they have been fixed. You can go down in levels and the Kanji move around each time so that they're not always in the same place. This is a very useful study aid, but don't expect to learn Kanji using only this program. Use it along with other resources as a fun way to quickly recall Kanji. This app is a great way to keep Kanji fresh in your mind. In order for this application to get five starts I recommend a few changes. 1) Add difficulty levels. For example, a perfect mode where you cannot pass the level if you miss one Kanji. Or if you miss a Kanji you have to wait for few seconds until you can go to the next one (meanwhile you will see the information for the kanji you missed) -- this will be a time penalty. 2) Change the background every ten levels or so. Something cheery and pleasing like the current background. 3) Some kind of reverse mode where it shows you the kanji and you have to enter the english or on-yomi/kun-yomi. This might require bigger boxes. While these changes would make the app even better, at 2 dollars this app is a must buy for students of Kanji.

It's a good start but...

Some basic features are missing. I would like a way to track the kanjis I get right from the ones I have trouble with. Another feature - ability to pick the level right from the start. Maybe the LimaSky company could spend one more day to complete this game.

Excellent Idea!

This app is great to learn how to recognize kanji! Although it helps if you have seen them already, the game-like style of this app makes it a fun process to master them all!

Marvelous app

I am 75, and I got into learning Japanese as mental exercise. I feel that it has been excellent for that purpose. But It has never been as much fun as it has been since I came across your app. This is excellent and challenging as a game, and educational to boot. I find it very addictive. Thank you. It is worth more than its price just as a memory game. Also it is potentially worthwhile material. I find it much more satisfying than crossword puzzles for instance. Thanks again. I recommend it to anyone who wants a fun mental challenge!!! fs in nc

Timing issue...

Nart Anaid

This is a pretty good app, I've been taking Japanese for three years now so I know the Kanji up to about level 5/6. But with the levels after that... The speed is too fast. It turns into a memory game after that. I can't pay attention to the Kanji at all, just the meanings. So it's basically a guessing game. Maybe you guys should change it so you can decide on the time/let the players not have a time limit.

Promising

Not exactly

I like the idea behind this game, but it's lacking some core features. It automatically starts you at the highest level you've reached, and to select a lower level you have to wait until the timer runs out. Why not have a level select screen? Also, there is no pause option. Being on the iPhone, most users are in transit, so the ability to stop the game while catching a bus or whatever would be nice. And lastly, I agree with another poster who suggested penalties for getting the wrong kanji. It's no fun if you can just keep guessing until you get the right answer. That said I do enjoy the game and think with a little work it could be an invaluable training tool.

Fun and easy

Wow! This app is pretty awesome. I am very amused though, about a lower post about someone who has been learnig Japanese for years but cannot pass level 6. I've been learning for four months and I'm on level 12. This is very good for learning and it's very fun too!

Agree

I agree with the other poster. You have to put a level select screen at the beginning, as well as a continue screen. So many other apps have this feature, it can't be that hard. It would be perfect if these features were added.

Very good But...

It needs a level select menu, and a pause button. Also when u tap the correct kanji it pauses for a second but the time keeps going. Other than that I love it. It's very effective. 
