iMtG

iMtG is probably the most advanced and innovative Magic: the Gathering toolbox app in the App Store. It has camera Scan function linked to Card Database with pricing, beautiful coverflow views of card lists and decks, unique Magic Binders collection management, Facebook deck sharing and in-app Gathering community forum.

Life Counter is easy to use, yet fully functional. It supports portrait and landscape modes. It has multiplayer support with Commander damage tracking and separate poison counters for 2-Headed Giant team. Multiple iMtG Life Counters can be linked over Bluetooth or Game Center, which is really cool.

Deck Builder includes sample play / fish tool, mana statistics, export by Email and sharing on Facebook. You can use Import from iTunes or Dropbox to upgrade from other MTG deck builders which support .dec file format.

Card Database has up to date pricing and advanced collection management. You can set how many you need, own and want to trade of each card. It will add the card to the appropriate report in the Main Menu. As soon as a new expansion is released, you can update your database in Settings -> Tools.

Magic Binders are digital reflection of your physical binders, allowing you to keep your collection data always with you, on the move and in the net. Mark your cards as foils, signed, set condition and language version, make notes. Post your collection's trading part online with a press of a button as Private Page on Gathering.

Gathering is our thriving MTG community forum and it's linked to Multiverse, a geolocation feature.

Trade module contains quick Price Check and Trading tool, together with Needed and Trade Binder. Needed list is especially handy when you are heading for your local shop to do some trading, and you are guaranteed to wow your friends when you show them what you need in a stunning landscape coverflow view. Prices are courtesy of TCGplayer.com, displayed in configurable currency and multiplied by configurable factor, so you can adjust for your local market. Trading is integrated with Potential Trades, an automatic trade matching system for Gathering users.

While iMtG is mostly free, in the built-in Shop you can pay to unlock optional functionality. Offline cache enables foil prices, mass update tool and background price fetching on card lists. You can also unlock unlimited decks maintenance and add handy Clone function to test different versions of the same deck, in-app access to card rulings, unlimited scanning, unlimited binders, advanced trading functions and card translations.

Please note the Support and Feedback option, the use of which I greatly appreciate.

Past it’s prime

Was good many years ago. Now outdated and not curated. Look elsewhere.

I use to love the app, was faster, has rules and lots of useful tools for beginners or advanced users.. but now it just crashes every time I try to use any option and even restoring my database seems impossible. I was reading other people’s concerns and have just made my mind to change app. To much beer for the programmers Bye I hope you solve all the issues

Needs an update
Magic the lonerer

Just recently got back into magic. It doesn’t have any of the new expansions, it prompts for a card database download (which I always say yes to) and there’s no update to the database. Crashes over simple functions like searching for a card, or the basic renaming of players for a card game. 3 years ago when I first had it, it was amazing. Now it desperately needs an update for newer iPhones and support for new expansions or something. Don’t waste your time. Although for older edition cards it works fine if you can get around the crashes.

DO NOT SPEND MONEY TILL HE FIXES THESE ISSUES
Pokemasterpeete

I used to love this app so much it was hands down the best mtg app. However its like the developer completely quit. The app needs updated to the newest ios. So now its almost completely unusable. It keeps crashing with almost every major function. I have sent in 3 different emails with no response. Do not spend money on this app till the developer fixes these issues. This was my old review ( Ive used this app for a long time but since a just came back to magic i was unaware of the server costs. That being said this is still by far the best app for deck building and card searching. I did notice that there are issues when i use the app on my iphone but on my ipad it works perfectly fine. I have tried using most other deck builder apps but they have pailed in comparison which made me be ok with $1 subscription which with the full unlock equates to two months. So $6 a year for something that does exactly what i need it to is fine with me. I would like to see a fix with the phone usage but thats really my only criticism.)

Changed

This app went so downhill! Use to be good when I used it like 3 years ago. Do not waist your time or money.

Developer is a piece of work
SpartAx

If you ask for support, and he told me I was "wasting his time". Couldn't be more SMUG. This thing crashes A LOT. Uninstalled!!! I wrote the above 5 years ago. I love that finally, people are seeing what kind of dullard this guy truly is. How this app is still available is an abomination.

Don’t Bother

This app is a waste of money and phone space. He has been “fixing it” for about 2 years now, blaming Apple all the while for their iOS update. The most recent complaint he’s made is that Apple is removing his duplicate apps. For good reason. He released two additional apps that were essentially the same app. One was iMtG + that “included other card games, like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon”, but was otherwise the same app. It should have been a in app purchase, at most. Nothing but the addition of different cards. It wasn’t even a feature. He had two obvious paths: release a new separate app for each of those card games, and change the name of the app accordingly, or add them to the original iMtG app as an in app purchase. Instead, he re-released the SAME APP, just with additional content. Reason: he wanted to double down on the in app purchases he already had. Remove ads, etc. Many had already bought these in the original app, but iMtG + was a “new app.” None of the previous purchases would carry over. If you wanted these purchased features, you’d have to pay for all of the app features all over again. Then he released iMtG for Education for an obscene cost. This app was the EXACT SAME APP as iMtG +, except it covered the future cost of all database updates. This is literally an in app purchase on iMtG + already. You can purchase “all future database updates” with the new sets in iMtG +. Again, doubling down on in app purchases for features that have already been purchased on other app versions. When you need to read the full description of each of the apps just to figure out what the difference is, because they all look the same and have a lot of the same listed features, it becomes clear. These aren’t three different apps. They’re money grabs. Inept money grabs. Reading his posts on his “help forum” are priceless. He claims that the Apple Store is a “sinking ship” that he won’t tie himself to, and openly mocks them in response to emails about these duplicate apps. He’s a belligerent child with delusions of grandeur. I’m honestly beginning to wonder if he even does any coding. It’s like he had someone else code this stuff, but they’re gone now, and he doesn’t know how to go fix it. 2 years! 2 years broken! Unless you follow his advice and “don’t update your iPhone, so his app can still function on an older iOS.” News flash: updates include security patches. I’m not going to leave my phone vulnerable just to maintain functionality of an app that you can’t manage properly.

DO NOT USE THIS APP
King Invalid

Foreword: I have used this app for years (at least since before RTR) and it wasn’t always garbage. This used to be a 1 time pay, one time upgrade kind of app. The ‘new’ (I say new because it’s new to me, I didn’t update it for almost 2 years) subscriptions are a kick in the balls for long time users like me. I bought the ‘I’ll have it all’ pack for like 10 dollars years ago, thinking that I would use this app until I stopped having an iPhone. When I upgraded my phone (and app), everything went bad. I couldn’t use my features that I paid for, I couldn’t view the card database without the app crashing, and I couldn’t create any decks at all. But hey, the life counter seems to work fine. I want to like this app again. I really do. It used to be the best M:TG app out there.

Terrible Developer, Terrible Attitude
Sorinmarkovi

This app has turned to a complete disappointment. I realize that it was a business move to keep charging people monthly, but it just drove me to uninstalling it and reinstalling it just to get the free trial. I'm done now. The developer is completely rude and unprofessional. This is pitiful. I'm sorry to say that it went from a 5 star review down to a 1 star review. Edit: still a terrible developer and an even worse business model.

Defended this dude when WOTC tried to take app down and i regret it now
Calito plaga

Defended this self proclaimed capitalist when WOTC tried to take down his app now he has forgotten it and left us all on the dust. Wish i could take that back, the only thing working is the payment, but app has lost most of its functions and crashes constantly, he blames apple for their constant unnecessary updates. Stay away.
