Reviews

Fake influencer app
Rhoda Lottamiles

This is an app designed to trick people into thinking that they are influencers and are ‘reviewing’ restaurants etc. Hype gets you to post reviews on their app. They make you feel like you’re in influencer by setting you up with thousands of fake followers on their app and then they try and sell you discounted restaurant tastings, tickets to events etc.

Pros and Cons

I’ll get right to it... Pros: - UE is similar to Instagram so everything feels familiar - Photos load in high quality - Options for editing Cons: - You have options to edit but no way to re-edit if you need to and I’m not referring to color grading and all of that..I’m talking about the caption, location, category, etc - The lag time while navigating is pretty bad - Right off the bat you start your journey already following 200+ people you don’t know and have never met - There’s no option for video (sorry DPs) - The numbers just simply don’t make sense. For instance, you have “influencers” who have thousands and thousands of followers but their posts only get 30ish likes - I got a canned welcome email that informed me to reply back with any questions. So I did. I haven’t heard anything back yet and it’s been about a week. Oddly enough, their rep continues to spam my social media account t asking if I have an account. Could this be a good platform, sure. It would need a lot of financial backing to get it where it needs to be.

Don’t believe the HYPE

Okay so I’ve never gone to any of the events but here’s why.... when I initially joined I was pretty much spammed non stop. Sometimes I would receive emails multiple times per day...seriously I have a highly demanding full time job and I don’t have time for this... so I ended up unsubscribing and just joining the Facebook group so I could see the events at my leisure. So I finally found and event I was genuinely interested in and was told there were complimentary tickets available. So I contact them immediately, literally minutes of the event being posted and was told the tickets were available but I needed to pay a concierge fee of ~$80 per person. So really the event is not complimentary! In addition to this, if you do decide to go they tell you the tickets are all out. Sounds pretty shady to me. Plus no android app. Now do you expect to have a social media presence and have no android app.

Best way to discover events & cool places

I’ve been using hype app more than one year and I must say this is the best way to discover events, cool places, amazing restaurants and all kind of hype things going around. Using the app and becoming a hype influencer you will get the best deals ever! Not to mention the great team behind the app. I love using hype and becoming a meme et of this community! Don’t miss it ;)

More than just an app!

I’ve been using the Hype for about a year now, and I’ve got to say it’s really been one of the most valuable apps I’ve ever downloaded. It goes beyond a nice user interface and sharing curated photos with others; it’s how the app encourages you to share experiences with a community IRL. It’s an intriguing blend of IG lifestyle type posts, Yelp like reviews of local hot spots, and an opportunity to meet people with similar interests, like Meetup. Seriously, I’ve met some amazing people, and made some really good friends through the Influencer events! If you love good food, music, and culture and you’re that person who always wants to share your favorite spots (and discover ones you didn’t know) than go for it! You’ll thank me later. TLDR: Hype is experience-sharing at its best.

Great social app
Dicanomi

This app is great, it takes the best parts of social media and actually incorporates meeting new people and having great experiences while doing it. It’s format is similar to Instagram with great geo location features that help you figure out where the cool events, restaurants, night clubs etc., will be and the dates and times available. You will definitely find something you like.

Best way to explore the foodie scene

I had my first experience with Hype for a tasting menu at a local restaurant and what an AMAZING experience!!! Our contact at Hype set up the entire thing, from communicating with the restaurant to setting up the day and time for our visit. When we got to the restaurant, they knew exactly what we were there for and gave us beyond a 5 star treatment. I would absolutely recommend becoming a part of the Hype community and participating in events like this!

It crashes!

Keeps freezing whenever you try to sign up.

User interface needs development

Hype is a really cool concept and I enjoy using the app, but the app itself is SUPER slow, lags a lot, and sometimes crashes. It lead to me double posting the same tip and the worst part is there is no option to edit or delete your posted tips. This is definitely something that needs to be added if someone needs to edit their tips for errors or the app accidentally made them post twice! Please fix!

Scam

They reached out to me on Instagram (I’m a blogger) and offered complimentary experiences. I often collaborate with businesses/apps like this one, so I decided to proceed. They were never clear about what our collaboration will look like, they made me download, sign up and fill in profile, and after that it turned out I need to go visit places and post 5 reviews before I even get the chance to be accepted as influencer on their platform ? I mean, no thanks. Please, be clear with what your business offers when you reach out to people directly in social media.
