I’ve paid for their VIP membership but the basic functionality of the app does not work. I’ve submitted multiple posts which are called moments and every single time it says that post has been deleted. I’ve been contacting their support team for multiple days and they are not able to resolve it. I’m considering other language exchange apps and I would highly recommend to other users not to pay for the VIP membership
Apparently I was blocked because my photo was deemed as too sexy ? 🙄🙄 which is so stupid it was me at a friends wedding in a gown. However I did meet allot of nice people on the app it’s annoying that I was blocked I also followed the instructions. Changed my photo and I was still blocked . Will find another way to learn another language.
Met my boyfriend on this app. Needless to say I’m pretty happy👌
If you’re serious about learning a language and you’ve completed a Duolingo course and you’re left feeling like you still don’t know what’s going on...get this app. It is well done and has many helpful features, but most of all the community is awesome. I have learned a lot and made some cool friends here.
HelloTalk has allowed me to practice my Chinese and make some awesome connections with others. If you don’t want to get the part that costs money, you don’t have to, and it doesn’t bother you too much about it. There is also a sort of social media aspect to it that is also really useful to help talk to people and practice your language skills. I recommend HelloTalk to anyone, especially if you enjoy chatting with others!
It’s really upsetting how you cannot express your personal opinions. Even when they do not concern anyone else, someone that doesn’t like what you say can report you and ban you for life. I am so disappointed in this app. People don’t even need prove to report you. HelloTalk support is also very disappointing. They don’t even look at the facts. I hope someone makes a new app that doesn’t side with ridiculous men like the one that banned me.
It’s an awesome app because everyone is super friendly and helpful! Great for language nerds who just want the opportunity to practice and help others with foreign language skills.
I have meet so many cool and helpful people, helping me with French or the languages I wanna learn and it’s amazing great to meet new people and cultures.
So the thing is that since you’re talking to actual people you’re forced into learning practical speech and things that you’d actually say all the time, which is absolutely not a bad thing. Any anyways it’s much more fun talking to an actual person. When you sign up you have to give your birthday and I’m pretty sure it’s because all of the people you end up talking to are around the same age as you (assuming you don’t lie about your birthday), which makes talking about pop culture and things you like to do a lot easier since it’s much more likely you’d have something in common with some one the same age as you than some 20 years older than you. It also makes making friends around the globe na lot easier in general (even for someone who isn’t very sociable like me). Everyone I’ve talked to was super excited to try to improve my language skills.
Very good way to learn a new language and make new friends all at the same time!
