Recent Update Screwed Long-time Players

Most recent update is full of bugs and bad code. Long-time players have lost many months of in-game rewards without notice. If they don’t fix ASAP they will lose a significant portion of the paying player base...

Consistent Arrogance from GUMI

Two points concerning developer arrogance and hubris by GUMI 1) GUMI has not fully disclosed all the pull rates for each individual unit, which is not in compliance with Apple’s policy. Yes, the devs have stated the the pull rate for the overall rarities, but not for specific units. This is an important oversight and should be enforced upon GUMI to comply with full disclosure. 2) Removal of friendship points without any warning. Players with accumulated FPs earned longer than 45 days in the past were deleted without any advance notice. The reason for accumulating FPs in the first place was the reasonable prediction of being able to spend FPs beyond 1-3 star summons in a future event, with precedence from the JP version of the game. The lack of warning for a mechanic that had no evidence of operating beyond normal breathes suspicious and malicious intent. I’m willing to give GUMI an extended stay of execution, but until that day of reckoning comes I’ll happily not be making a monthly contribution anymore.

This review is after playing since release and having spent a decent amount. Bear with me, I’ll try to be as detailed as possible. First off, let me say this: this game is great. But you might have noticed that I’ve given it a 1-star review. Well, that’s because I’m rating GUMI, the developer. Their level of incompetence and disrespect to their players is just astounding. The past few months the game has been plagued with developmental issues, like crashing, god-awful translations, lag, inconsistent and irregular maintenance cycles, nerfing units that people spent a lot of money for and making them irrelevant- it’s bad. It makes logging on a chore sometimes. Second, they consistently insult the intelligence of their players. Recently, the “Value Bundles” in the shop aren’t value bundles at all. The bundles are actually grossly overpriced compared to their equivalent value if you were to just buy the premium currency itself. The latest bundle - the “Developer’s Choice” bundle is a perfect example, as were the holiday bundles. This is a deceptive and embarrassing practice and shows the true colors of the developer. Third, the disrespect is appalling. Recently they decided that they were going to implement a 45 day cap on how long you could horde your friend points after you reached the 100,000 cap. Most dedicated players saved their points in the hopes of an experience or gil event, or maybe even the Moogle event that the Japanese game got. But with the latest update, Gumi, without warning, deleted all saved friend points past the 45 day cap. Let me tell you why that is wrong: we PAY for the increased friend capacity so we can have more friend points. They took something away that their players PAID for, without warning and without allowing the players to spend it before they removed it. Overall, the game itself is fun and I enjoy playing it. If I were to rate just the game - it’s a 4/5, you’ll enjoy just the game. Don’t spend any money on this game though, because Gumi doesn’t deserve your hard-earned money. Enjoy it for what it is.

Game is Broken

My game is completely broken. I was exploring the dungeon area and accidentally tapped one of the bosses (apparently) and I’m WAY under leveled to be fighting it, but the boss WILL NOT KO my guys to end the fight, and the game won’t let me abandon the fight. Tried closing and reopening, even deleted the app and reinstalled it. Still puts me in the fight. Only choice is to fight it out by doing 1hp per hit. Phone has been open and autofighting for 2 hours and I’ve done 1% damage. This is ridiculous.

Unfortunately I can not recommend this game as is currently, after a slew of problematic events including hacking all of a few months ago the development team and producer promised a better year (2018). Myself and the majority of other long time players have noticed nothing but a steady decline in meaningful updates (with each update breaks a multitude of other assets within the game) As of now my rating will go from the usual 4 to 5 stars all the way down to 1 until initiative is taken to implement hot fixes to restore this game to its former glory. PS- And to whoever is reading this review that’s come from the reddit, no I’m not a xfit f2p vegan.

Much better after the drop fix

I previously had a review for this game that said it’s fun but gets 1 star because of the awful drop system. It used to be that it seemed to require an act of divine intervention to get a rainbow drop and that made the game less fun. But they have recently upgraded the drop rate for rainbow crystals. In the short time since this upgrade I’ve gotten more rainbow crystals than the entire previous year of playing and summoning. One of the characters was one that I really wanted, another was one I really needed to compete. Some have been “meh”. But they’ve still been rainbow drops and that has made me quite happy. I still have some issues with the RNG (like blowing through dozens of tickets and not getting more than one or two banner units, and ESPECIALLY not getting decent banner units or even a rainbow drop when spending 5K lapis on a draw) and with the servers constantly being down following weekly maintenance, and some other things. Oh, and the help desk people REALLY are terrible most of the time. But overall this is a very fun game and it’s been made much more fun with the updated rainbow drops.

Not really worth your time.

I’ve played this a bit and one day I closed the app. Upon reopening the next day I noticed that I could not get back to the hub menu. I could not click on anything other than the towns to enter them. I cannot do anything aside from entering towns. I tried reinstalling the app, which also did not work. You did an update 2 days ago according to the update page in the App Store, still not working. This is a fun game, it would be cool if you guys didn’t let it die like most phone games tend to do. 2 stars for fun game but failure to fix probably the most important issue.
