Disappointing

MrOBrian

I’m a big Final Fantasy fan, and I really enjoy gacha style games, so when I heard about this game I was really hopeful, but ultimately disappointed. The interface feels extremely cluttered. Lots of icons on the home screen that all have a red indicator with a number in it. Usually that means there’s something new, but in this game it means there’s a bunch of stuff they want you to buy. On other screens, like the character screen, there’s so much going on that it can be overwhelming at first. Even something that should be simple, like viewing and changing a character’s gear, seems hidden and overly complicated. Right from the start you get some maxed level, super strong character that takes away all the challenge of the game. I was taking down bosses in one hit. That’s not what I expect from a Final Fantasy game. I ended up uninstalling this game after only a few hours of game play, and much of that was waiting for it to download assets. I picked the option for it to do the download during the tutorial, but I guess it ignores that option and waits until the end of the tutorial to do the download. It was also downloading much, much slower than my internet connection. And even after that huge download, it seemed like every time I went to do something it needed to download another megabyte or two.

Constant issues

Focus has become on cash grabs every single week. Two years ago, this game was absolutely worth playing for nostalgia value. Now though? Unless you have a ton of excess money you feel like giving to a publisher that refuses to fix issues (you cannot add friends after battles and this has been broken for over a year now), constantly breaks promises to the players (won’t skip NVA units, yet we’re now missing another), and just outright doesn’t care about their product, this game isn’t for you anymore.

Once An Amazing Game

mbjonesan

Lately things have been going downhill fast and Gumi/SE don't really seem to care about what the players think. One tangible example: The latest Xenogears collab *should have been* amazing but they left out a significant amount of content (upgrades/awakenings for the older Xeno units) and made getting unit shards nigh impossible. This has been an escalating trend that they don't care to address.

The barrier to just start is ridiculous

Floggins

I downloaded this solely because they advertised stuff from Xenogears. Love it and love me a Final Fantasy so thought “Why not?” So, I downloaded it from the app store. Started the app. Download pops up. I think “Extra little download, oh that’s fine.” Then immediately there’s another one. “At least they’re small.” I think. Tap to start “Oh you need to make an account to save progress, ok.” Sign in. “Hmm, another download…” “Ok, surely after this one my game will start.” “No? It’s another huge download ten times as big as the initial one?” I know I could’ve downloaded the final part in the background while playing the tutorial but I wasn’t on wifi and it was just one step too far. I don’t even mind the cell data usage. The game just really needs the large chunk of download to able to be done in the initial download from the App Store. Maybe I’ll try again later, but maybe I’ll just go replay Xenogears.

Not Worth it

Tailless

I have been playing FFBE since the 1st year, spending $$$ and had enjoyed it. It’s had it’s ups and downs but I noticed since the crappy Anniversary event it’s been a steady decline. For a long time they were just copy, paste and translating the JP version events and content and nothing new. Now they are actually removing upgrades, characters, shards, and content that JP had and charging a lot more for the little that’s left. I’m not sure if it’s Gumi or Square Enix but the most recent cash grab the last few banners was the final straw. They drastically increased the cost of the pity unit and removed their shards/coins in the shop or banners so to upgrade it you would have to spend even more just to unlock its main ability's. Reddit and YouTube have had less content for it lately and a lot of creators quit a while ago. The few left are voicing the same concerns. I’m sorry to say but this game is just NOT Worth my money or time anymore.

Panel quest issues

Unsaid Dragon

Hello, I’ve been playing the game for a little under a year now and it’s a great game but there are 3 panel quest from the rookie board that will not register as completed when I have clearly completed them. I’ve defeated the siren. I’ve cleared Fulan Pass-seasound way and neither of them will let me claim my rewards. It’s basically telling me that I haven’t done those yet but I have many times and they won’t register. Please help me.

Great but a few major issues

Jaksionum

1. Some of the more recent events/ story areas seem to have gained a “True SSS victory” requirement or instant failure otherwise. 2. A lack of incentive to play the story beyond a certain point due to spending the in game NRG for events or resource grinding instead. 3. Due to the introduction of NV units, both the 3* and 4* units have been taking a backseat and not being shown the love they deserve by awakening them to higher rarity levels like 7*. 4. The current trust master and super trust master earning systems is a little outdated and needs to be upgraded to take advantage of the NV units like, increasing the amount of trust earned from the trust moogle cave and increasing the number of T.M.C. expeditions. 5. The co-lab events, while fun are, at times infrequent and inconvenient when players don’t have the lapis to pull the top featured units. 6. Certain trust master rewards are locked to the unit that gives it or a select group of units, if it was the STMR that’s one thing, but for exclusive TMRs you need only a “X” amount and sell the rest that you obtain. Otherwise this game has been great up to this point and I would recommend it to those who enjoyed the series.
