** REVIEWS **

“It’s the kind of experience that reminds one what fun interactive fiction can be, as well as making the promise of new Fighting Fantasy titles from Tin Man Games soon, all the more exciting.” - 148 APPS - 4.5/5 - EDITOR'S CHOICE!

“Given that Tin Man Games’s previous two efforts were quite similar in tone, the change of scenery in The Forest of Doom is very welcome indeed. It’s also encouraging to see the developer adding content to its already-robust Gamebook engine – you now have an auto-map, which records your progress and makes your choices that little bit easier.” - POCKET GAMER - 9/10 - GOLD AWARD!

“This is a beautiful, wonderful adaptation of the classic book. It has every bell and whistle you could ask for in terms of making the experience of playing Forest of Doom as enjoyable as possible. If you’re here looking for the book on your iOS device, look no further. This is what you want. If you’re a fan of game books but don’t know this one at all, I give it a hearty recommendation. This is one of the classics of the genre and it has been given the usual royal treatment from the developer.” - TOUCH ARCADE - 4/5

“Tin Man Games has done a great job of bringing this classic story to iOS, and for us choose-your-own-adventure geeks it’s great to have on our phones or tablets.” - SLIDE TO PLAY - 4/4

Fun but way too short for the price
Demicrown

Good game. Way too short with no replay value once completed. Definitely not worth the price.

Great Implementation of a Choose Your Own Adventure!
badbreatth

If you like choose your own adventure then this is the ultimate app for you! In this adventure you get to kill monsters, watch out for traps, and take control of your destiny; you are the hero! No adventure sheets needed, the app keeps track of your inventory and stats!

Highly addictive
joeberkeley1

This was my favorite of the Fighting Fantasy books growing up in the early 80s, and this app does the book right! The adventure sheet is a pleasure to use, the automap is great, and the ability to toggle between retro and modern looks is a nice touch. For fan service, there are extras, achievements, and an unlockable alternate cover artwork. The only thing missing would be the US cover art as an unlockable. If you have any interest in D&D style gamebooks, this is a must buy.

Awesome except for typos
Gunderbad

I am really enjoying this story. The only things are the typos that are in it. And I mean a lot. For starters the plural for Dwarf is Dwarves not Dwarfs. And in some instances the word YOUR is replaced by YOU. Other than that all is fine.

Buggy
GhaleonEME

Crashes frequently on my iPad. Expected more than this for 6 dollars. Planning on ordering the real book tomorrow.

I love this.

I would have rated this 5 stars had the price been cheaper. I just don't think the adventure was long enough to pay $5.99 for it. It is a cyoa book with the use of generated dice and character stats. It's basically a solo rpg. Amazing and fun.

Get lost in The Forest of Doom!
koreanhistorian

I was a fan of the series as a kid and especially loved The Forest of Doom. My paper copy is halfway around the world, so I'm really happy Tin Man Games has so faithfully reproduced this and other Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks in app form. It's so great to relive such a pleasant part of my childhood and be able to share it with others in this high tech age. The app runs smoothly on my iPad 3 and offers all the fun of the paper version. The colors and background music add to the atmosphere, while the automatic fighting system makes it easy to read on the go. I really appreciate the fact that I cannot finish the book by cheating. In fact, this is the first time I got to the end of the book honestly. I think kids accustomed to video games will appreciate experiencing this book in app form. Parents should appreciate these apps as a tricky way to get their kids to read. I really enjoyed reading background information on the book and the origins of Fighting Fantasy. I think future editions would do well to include as many such extras as possible.

Awesome!

I used to love choose your own adventure books when I was a kid and I'm stoked that I've got a D&D themed one on my iPhone now. I'll definitely be buying more of this developer's CYOA games!

Amazing
