Works well, but lacks in useful features.

This app does what it advertises, and is actually rather useful in scoping out areas before venturing into them, or for knowing which special items (magazines, bobbleheads, etc.) to be on the lookout for. That being said, it functions a bit like the game itself, in having some nice options and lots of helpful information once you learn how to use it, but without offering instructions or help in utilizing it. Don't be fooled by the app's description like me into believing you can sync the app with your game, or use it to actively track the collectibles you find. It does neither, which was slightly disappointing. It functions as a large map of the whole playable area, separated into clickable zones. Each zone can be expanded, and shows icons for each primary and secondary locations, workbenches, and other areas of interest. These can be clicked on to find out what they are (you can't tell what it is from the map view, which despite the slight risk of being cluttered, seems like a huge oversight), read a short summary of the area, and lists the common enemies, and any major collectibles in that area (but there are no location/ detailed specific maps, or even the slightest hint about how to find the collectibles). *** DEVELOPERS *** While I do still find this app useful and continue to use it, in order to justify the $3 for this app, please consider adding these features: * Name of landmark/ point of interest at the map level!! * Location specific maps (asking a lot, but even a very basic area layout with markers where the few collectibles are would make a HUGE difference). * If the above is excessive, text guides to locations would help too. * List relevant main/ secondary quests that involve the location. * How-to guide/ Help section/ any kind of actual instructions. * Search feature for locations and or collectibles. I hope this can be viewed as constructive, and I'd love to see some of these features in a future update, so I could bump my review up to 5 stars. Keep up the good work for this great game! - Dan

Not a particularly useful map
Cresh

This is only a world map and does not provide a level of detail to make it worth the price. Better maps that go into further detail are available free online and provide better value (cost aside) than this app.

Crap

Whole right side of screen is missing and can just see half the boston sign and words zone like there's some kind of menu there, also maps won't move which would be fine but the bottom half is cut off!!! Ugh

Earlier problem was fixed ;)

Simple map, nothing more

I've gotten lots of these companion apps for games over the years and they are usually hit or miss when it comes to quality. This app is better than the map the guide gives you but not much more. It would be great if it indeed did as it says and helps you keep track of what you found in the game. It does not. Unless I am not pressing the right combination of buttons or gestures, it doesn't do that. It doesn't tell you point of interest locations which would have also been great. What it does do, is give you a map and once you touch the area in question give you a list of what you can find and enemies encountered at that site. That's about it. Maybe with an update it will give us the functionality of marking off things we find in the wastes, but until then, it's a map with a list.

Great Fallout 4 Map App

This map app by Prima is worth the extra $2.99. You can use it on your iPad and seek out loot in particular locations by utilizing information about what you will find there. Particularly helpful when starting out the game, but useful throughout. I'm finding it handy in getting the big picture of the vast game map of Boston. Highly recommended!

Waste of money. Do not buy.

Map is barely interactive. Doubt this is an "official map". No easy way of searching for specific locations. Free online map is better. Do not buy.

What a disappointment....

I remember the Skyrim map app and how nice it was. You could drop pin, mark things as found, scroll around everything, zoom in, hide different types of markers. It had its flaws, but wow was it useful. Yeah, this app is NOTHING like that... What a huge disappointment...

Don't purchase if you have the guide..

I fell victim to misleading advertising on prima's website when I saw this fascinating app! Prima's website advertises the app to allow for tracking the many collectibles in the game. However, the map app is little more than a convenient reference material of what is already provided on Prima's website as the e-guide map. This app merely lets you zoom in on the maps, tap on locations, and lists for you what is available at those locations, but it does NOT allow you to check mark those items as "collected." The app is 3 bucks but what good is a map app, especially one for a game as vast as Fallout, if it does not allow you a method of itemizing the collectibles that you've found?? Case in point: if you have already invested in either the physical strategy guide or the electronic version on Prima's website, then you have no use for this app. Two stars. IF they come up with an update to tally these things that you've found in your adventures, then this app gets 5 stars. Until then, save your money and put the 3 bucks towards the GREAT strategy guide that Prima has already released.
