EpicWin

EpicWin is an iPhone app that puts the adventure back into your life. It’s a streamlined to-do list, to quickly note down all your everyday tasks, but with a role-playing spin. So rather than just ticking off your chores and reminders, completing each one earns you XP to improve and develop your character in an ongoing quest to improve stats, gain riches, and level-up.
Category Price Seller Device
Productivity $1.99 supermono limited iPhone, iPad, iPod

To-do list with a Role-Playing Game spin
Streamlined and fast to use
Range of avatars to level-up with
Destroy your chores in animated battles
Points and rewards for completing your tasks
Loot to discover and share

By getting points for your chores it's easier to actually get things done. We all have good intentions but we need a bit of encouragement here and there. Doing the laundry is an epic feat of stamina so why not get stamina points for it?!

The to-do list is fully-featured and supports repeating tasks, displays reminders for overdue events and allows time-critical events to be assigned to specific days, while more aspirational quests can be set to "someday" so you don't lose sight of your goals. And each task completed is destroyed by your avatar, so get your Undead Warrior to beat-up your laundry, or your Treeman to headbutt your overspilling inbox.

The app is supplied with 5 animated avatars which grow in characteristics that represent your own life. Will you be a Maiden of Juggled Priorities, or a King of Win? The lifestyle you lead will decide.

iOS update killed it!
Psyknife

Nooooooo! I loved this app, but the recent iOS update seems to have killed it. Nothing loads properly anymore. Please please please update the app so it’ll function properly again ?

Abandonware

As of iOS 13, completely garbled and unusable. No substantive updates in past three years.

No longer works

Apparently this app is dead and doesn’t display properly on more recent devices. I’m using an iPhone 8+ and the app is unusable.

Unusable, yet still costs money

Do not pay for this app. The screen is completely messed up and unusable. There is no way to properly view any aspect of the app.

App needs to be updated - unusable as it is

This app was great, used it all the time, now it’s very badly out of date to the point where I can’t even use it

This update unplayable right now
Heyeveryone

I have an iPhone XS and the app’s graphics are glitched out. Could be a good app, but can’t tell. I’ll update if the glitch is fixed.

Time for an update

I finally found this app again and. Was so excited to DL IT. Now it looks like it is in dire need of an update.

Less is more

I have ADHD, and I’ve found this one to be better than the other todo list & gamification app that most people use. All those advanced features and different types of rewards the other app has are distracting, and aren’t at all interesting - if I wanted to play an actual game, I’d play an actual game. This app has much better sound and graphics which are all I need to feel rewarded. I don’t care much for collectibles but they are a nice addition. The only suggestion I have is maybe make the reward system procedurally generated, so it works forever.

I miss this app

Update: It’s 2020 now and we’re in the midst of a global pandemic. Since its developer stopped updating Epic Win, I’ve had to move on and use other To Do-type apps. It’s been years now and I still miss Epic Win. No other app has come close to bringing me as much joy in completely mundane — and epic — tasks. Original review: I have been using EpicWin for five years now -- that's longer than my current relationship! While the app has its quirks and sometimes there are bugs, I am always impressed with the original "prizes" and I really love beating up my To Do list. I would pay for this app again if it meant ensuring continued maintenance. I cherish EpicWin. It makes me happy.

Wish for added content
BaltimoreDave

I really wish the work we did to level up was rewarded by some kind of supe rare challenge or boss battle that would use are specific attributes (strength, intelligence etc). Just to keep it interesting. Maybe a new character class. Rather than a road, maybe we are navigating thru a dungeon? Sad it hasn’t been updated in many years as in some ways it’s still the best of the gamification of task list apps in both design an art direction
