Welcome to Waterdeep, the City of Splendors! A city run by a secret society of masked Lords who rule with shady back-door dealings and unmatched political power. In Lords of Waterdeep players will play as one of these masked Lords and will need to recruit adventurers to go out and complete quests for them. The more quests they complete, the more control and influence they have over the city.

Players can expand the city by purchasing buildings that will open up new opportunities within the city walls. Intrigue cards can be used to help the player and may also either help or hinder their fellow Lords in their quest to become the supreme ruler of Waterdeep!

Lords of Waterdeep is a turn-based strategy game played in 8 rounds and can be played against AI or with up to 5 human players. Players take turns assigning their agents to do their bidding, whether it is to recruit new adventurers to their tavern or purchase a new building for the city. Points and resources are gained by completing quests, playing Intrigue cards, constructing new buildings or having other players utilize the buildings you have constructed. At the end of the 8 rounds bonus points are awarded and the player with the most points at the end wins the game.

What happened to this app?
rabbitshavefangs

I played this game for many years and absolutely loved it. Recently, I downloaded it again and was saddened to see the perspective and interface changed in such a way that the game is now unplayable. What happened to the old version and whose hair-brained idea was it to completely rebuild this app? Remember that old saying? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Playdek sure screwed the pooch with this one, I won’t be buying anymore Playdek titles until they restore the original LoW app. This game was SO GOOD! I’m truly saddened by this.

Wonderful addictive game with unlimited replay ability, especially online games.

Great! Love the app version of the board game. Simply perfect.

New user interface ruins game on phone
the editrix

This went from a wonderful port to an unplayable one. The text is unreadable due to small size on cards and the board while playing on a phone.

Broken
Asty1066

It just repeats the first round over and over. With different lords. Such a shame.

Add portrait option!!!

Please add portrait mode back in and iPhone X aspect ratio support!!!

gimmicky update detracts from core gameplay

Previously great adaptaion of the boardgame was marred by a misguided UI redesign when updating the game for modern versions of iOS. The core mechanics are fun. The previous UI let the game shine. Now it gets in the way, even on my iPad Pro. There's also a bug during scoring. If you played as Halaster the scoring screen treats you as Danilo. I was scored 8 points when I had completed 11 quests and 7 buildings as Halaster.

Used to be great; now unplayable
Burgamus

Used to be the best board game on the App Store. But the new update ruined the ability to play due to the scale and orientation of the board. Devs should roll this one back but the company already has our money so they aren’t losing anything from us and they are gaining money from the new users due to cross-platform ability.

Seagull'd all over the game with a bad update, then ran for the hills

This was a fantastic game. Lots of fun. But not only did then stop improving/adding content, their last update crapped all over the app and they have not touched it since. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME until they get a clue and update it. It's an embarrassment to the Waterdeep name at the current time.

Awesome!

I love this game a lot. I bought both expansions in a heart beat. The only thing is, it’s not optimized for iPhone Xs and the plying area is really small. Please update.

Excellent worker placement with D&D flavor text.

So I actually started playing Waterdeep on the tabletop edition. Wasn’t really a big fan, but would play it now and then. My friend got the game on iOS, and I subsequently bought it and both expansions. That was several years ago, probably played the game a few times. Fast forward to last month when I reinstalled and started playing against a couple buddies. Found some random people online with similar skills and I am currently really enjoying this game. My only hiccup is the notification bug. I used to get notifications from the game, and it worked great. Somehow I am now not getting any. I checked my settings in the game and on my phone, but without any luck. Devs: please fix the notification bugs. Cheers!
