Tell Tale Heart - not for the feint of heart!
Dracyy

I bought this because I have enjoyed all the other Poe offerings very much however...although ERS did a good job with the artwork on this one let me say right up front there is a warning about graphic violence and they aren't kidding! Opening scene showing a woman getting her throat cut, spraying blood and hung from a tree. NOT for kids and more graphic than needed in my opinion. That aside I'm having trouble playing this one. Touch is a bit off, the majority of the items in your inventory are plus items with a crapload of smaller pieces. Over all it feels awkward and like they are overthinking things and trying too hard. I honestly don't know if I will finish this game as trying to manipulate tiny objects with poor touchpad controls is frustrating. A mouse would be more precise but iPads don't have them. Perhaps this game should have stayed in the pc/Mac side. Verdict: buy if you are a Poe addict or enjoy playing games where precision is mandatory. Otherwise skip or wait a few weeks when they offer it with a free trial. The dollar extra you spend getting it later might be worth the chance to get the try out.

The Worst
Really? All the names taken?

Probably the shortest, fastest play game from Big Fish in the last 5 years! There was no real story. No transport feature on the map; lots of time-consuming measurement taking - and they didn't matter in the game. Very, very disappointing game from Big Fish. Is everyone on vacation, so you phoned in this crap game?

Way, way too short!

Gameplay is pretty good, story line is decent, but this is the shortest game I've ever played! Not thrilled.

That's it??

This game is fun but entirely way too short. The ending was horrible. I only paid $3.99 but had I known how short the game was I wouldn't have wasted my money. C'mon Big Fish you can do better than this.

My "Heart" is Beating To This "Tell-Tale"!

I cannot believe all of the negative reviews; I enjoyed this one. My favorite detective has returned; my handsome, fashionable, aristocratic, and dazzling detective.......you get the picture. The premise discovers a hair-raising, spine-tingling fusion of murder mayhem with a horror-like themed concept. The plot successfully builds suspense and unfolds fluidly as the drama shifts from one predicament to the next. I like the shift from one witness's perspective to another. The graphics are beautifully and tactfully drawn with precise, refined details illustrating this developer's aptitude. The prevalent display of darker colors, such as gray, brown, and blue, exudes an austere, shadowy mood. The artwork displays an appropriate expertise of a grim and primitive glimpse into an 1800s laboratory: hanging skeletons move upon touch; jars contain freshly preserved body parts; blood and gore are splattered all over victims' bodies; and a grotesque, outstretched hand beckons for your attention. You can customize your settings; options are standard. The inventory is labeled, interactive and puzzle-like; items require assembly. I admire the layout of functions on the bottom left as they are displayed in one confined area but distanced enough to obviate accidental access. By the way people: when many items require assembly, that's called "puzzle-like", which adds some spice to gameplay. The map is nonessential in that your adventure is quite linear; objectives are indicated. Unfortunately, the map is not shy of imperfections and lacks its main purpose: it does not teleport! I was not able to jump to other locations even though I could manually travel to the same. It's a good thing I did not need it. Transition from scene to scene is fluid and uninterrupted. Some of the HOS are original and include a variety of clever and ingenious approaches to gameplay. The puzzles are varied, unique, and offer something for everyone. Some are "tastefully" rotational; some depend on dexterity skills; some are forensic-natured where you put your detective skills to work with your handy kit. The textual information appears in the form of acquired reading materials. You have a collectible; they are highly visible in placement. Overall, this game offers inventive variety and originality. I really felt as though I were transformed into a character of a novel through the high level of interaction. I did have to deduct a star due to the flawed map and a slight temperament of the lenses puzzles. It might be on the short side, but still one of the best in a while for me.

Tell tale dud!

I usually look forward to these games as they are fun, good quality, and good stories. Not so much this time around. I hated the gore. I play these games to relax and loose myself in the gameplay, but can't do that if the gross factor is thrown in gratuitously. Story seemed lacking and incomplete, not to mention short and not worth the time or money. Puzzles were ok but nothing to get excited about. The big plus for this game was not having to run all over the place seeking bits and pieces in order to move along the story. Most everything was available within 1 or 2 screens of where you are. But sadly that's the best I can say about this game. Devs take note: focus on good stories and challenging puzzles. No more gore!

Awful
Drosietwo

I have not finished this game yet, but so far it is terrible. Map is useless, touch terrible, and examining clues is tedious. Not much here to encourage purchase. Oh, for the days of the free trial.

What a dud!

I play all of these games that BF puts out and I never write reviews. If I like a game I don't feel it's my job to sell it to others. But, I feel that I should warn others when a game is really bad, and this one is a stinker. Very disjointed, and poorly thought out. Way too short, although this could be a blessing considering how bad it is. Save your money folks.
