Hoax

O'Boy!

This app is so basic a child could have written the code for the freakin thing. DONT PAY ITS GARBAGE!! Reviews are all phony too! Editors choice? Ok I’m Elvis then.

Seems compatible

Downloaded when Accuwearher was causing compatibility issues with my 12 inch iPad. Very basic weather application with a good map.

Best Weather App Available

This app is incredible and continues to blow my mind with its accuracy. I absolutely love it and share it with everyone I know!! I have had this app for several years now after getting it for free from Starbucks one month. I feel like I hit the jackpot with that one!!

Not very accurate for the big stuff

Yawper82

I got this app because of its good reviews. It’s good for temperature, but for these last two Nor’easters it’s been way off in terms of when the precipitation will come. It doesn’t even agree with the national weather service warning it links to. I could see being inaccurate a day or two out, but it’s been inaccurate on the same day (ie, saying the heavy snow will arrive a day earlier than it does). I’ll stick with it and hope for improvement, but not great so far.

Pretty but forecast has grown unreliable

Meatyard

This apps presentation is without peer. But the forecasts have grown unreliable. I’m not sure where they are sourcing their data from. I assume it’s an aggregate of weather services. But over this winter the precipitation forecast, whether it’s rain or snow has been way off. Even the hour ahead feature is unreliable now

Hype not helpful

This app has some very cool ways to present data but the radar is crap and it’s insistence in always tracking you even when not using the app is ridiculous. I paid for this app so I don’t feel I should be obligated to let you follow me (thereby giving you an additional revenue stream of data). On top of it all - precipitation forecast is not accurate after all. It’s pouring rain but according to the app - partly cloudy. I need accurate weather, not junk.

Very Accurate to the minute

Very dependable

Really wanted to love this app, it’s just not accurate enough to use regularly.

Dark Sky is a beautifully designed and executed app. It’s functional, beautiful, clean, and pretty effectively marries form and function. If only its data and forecasts were as reliable as its presentation. This is especially true with precipitation prediction. Everyone knows and accepts that meteorology is an incredibly difficult and inexact science, and forecasts are off all the time. But when a major snowstorm is bearing down on the northeast US and every weather outfit (including the National Weather Service) is predicting 12-15 inches and Dark Sky continues to predict 1-2 with rain, you start to question where these guys are getting their sources. And it’s not just one time, either - three consecutive nor’easters from February to March 2018 have been so wildly and spectacularly off that I’ve given up. Even when a “Winter Storm Warning” icon is blazing red on the splash screen, Dark Sky continues to declare a dusting of snow. For a PAID app, I expect both style and function. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how pretty your app is, if the content is flat out wrong. I wish these reviews allowed for screenshots, because I’ve been tracking their asinine predictions for the past month or so. In summary, all I’m asking for is the same level of accuracy as any of the other major weather apps. Dark Sky does not provide that. Despite its high rating, you’re better off looking elsewhere for your weather needs.

Scary accurate

witchcraft. That’s the only way I can justify how accurate this is.
