NEW IN THIS UPDATE:

- Standby mode is now disabled when playing
- Playing can optionally start with an offbeat now
- A new pattern of 6 beats has been added for Fandangos
- Compas Flamenco now memorizes the speeds you have been using for each style. So when you prefer a specific speed for a given style you don't have to adjust it each time you start the app or change the style. To reset a speed to the default double-tap the stop button. To reset speeds for all styles go to the info tab and press "Reset speeds for all styles to default"

Thank you for your suggestions (especially to Simone, Peter and Ander) and for contacting me in case of problems, this really helps to improve the app!

Compas Flamenco is a dedicated and comprehensive flamenco metronome for iOS. It includes all major flamenco styles and it is an invaluable tool for learning to play and dance "a compás". Compas Flamenco is s great help if you are not sure how long your step pattern or falseta needs to be to fit into the rhythm or when you are not accurately with the rhythm when performing. And of course it's really fun to use it!

Functions:

- For iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 5s

- Rhythms for Soleares, Alegrias, Bulerias, Siguiriyas, Fandangos, rhythms of 4 beats (Tangos, Tientos, Tarrantos, Rumbas), rhythms of 3 beats (Granaina, Malagueña, Sevillanas) are included.

- For each flamenco style different typical variations can be played (e.g. different hand clapping patterns). Perfect to learn how to accompany the different rhythms with hand clapping!

- Bulerias can be played as a rhythm of 12 beats or as a rhythm of 6 beats (perfect to practice patterns or Falsetas that change between rhythms of 6 and 12).

- Siguiriyas can be played as a rhythm of 12 beats (beginning at 8) or as a rhythm counted to 5 (1 y 2 y 3 y y 4 y y 5), favoured by many Gitanos, with the corresponding counting scheme visualised in the metronome.

- Fandangos can be played as a rhythm of 12 beats or as four rhythms of 3 beats.

- The starting point in the rhythm of 12 beats can either be set to 12 or to 1 (Soleares, Alegrias, Bulerias).

- All patterns can be played with Palmas (hand clapping) or Cajón.

NEW: Option for automatically increasing speed. Start slowly and see up to which speed you can perform.

No sound in new iOS
flamenco guitar

I should have noticed the latest version of this app is 4 years old! Volume “fix” doesn’t work: still no sound. So, unless you want a SILENT metronome, spend your money elsewhere.

Makes no sound
Silentskills

No sound comes from the app when you click play. Also changing the rhythmic pattern or the style do nothing. Needs to be updated or it’s totally worthless

This is a very useful app. Two things I think could make it better: 1) Allow for in-app screen rotation—iPhones ingeniously (sarcasm) have a headphone jack on the bottom of their phones and it would be nice to rotate the app upside down so we can view the app with headphones exiting the top of the phone (otherwise, we have to find a way to nail the phone to the wall while using it with headphones). 2) When the app gets re-opened, use the same settings as the previous session. Right now, only the bpm is preserved.

Silent

All volumes are set to highest on my phone, still no sound from app. I hope the developers have fun with my money; I have a worthless app.

Really bad app, doesn’t sound
StepFlix

How come I am supposed to learn the Flamenco rhythms with an app that doesn’t sound??? I want to return it and I want my money back

El Hedonista

This app is excellent. It is well designed and is an essential tool in learning to properly play flamenco. The actual sounds are authentic and performance quality. It is perhaps the best way to practice and subsequently "feel" these complex rhythms. Five Plus stars….

Great app!! English and Spanish review
Rocking the room

ENGLISH: This is the best app for compás flamenco that I have encountered. It is very flexible, with a large number of rhythms and different types of variations for these rhythms, including contratiempos that simulate different palma options for each palo. You can also gradually increase the rate for a given palo, which simulates an increase in velocity that would be desirable when performing. One of the features that sets this metronome apart from the rest is the fact that the compás is represented as a circle of 12 beats, as in a watch. This allows for a spatial representation of how the compás progresses and how it links to the next compás, allowing the mind to integrate the visual image and the auditory stimuli and that way achieve a greater accuracy in one’s flamenco dancing, singing or playing.

Great flamenco rhythm app
Allegrias

I appreciate the flamenco app. It is helping me learn the 12 count and other complicated rhythms for flamenco guitar. It's a very useful metronome for guitar books for flamenco.
