Gin Rummy is a simple game to learn, but it will take a while to master!
How Gin Rummy plays:
At the end of each hand, points are scored by the winner of that hand. A players wins either by knocking with gin, or by having the lower deadwood score at the point when someone knocks. Deadwood is the sum of cards not included in a meld in that player’s hand. A meld is three or more cards in a set (cards of the same kind) or run (consecutive cards of the same suit). Face cards are worth 10 points and all other cards are worth their value.
I liked the game at first but then I noticed that your “run” cards are wayyyyy too close to your “discard” cards and therefore you accidentally click the run card to discard. If your run cards were kept on LEFT side, rather than RIGHT, this would eliminate that problem and gotten more stars. But I made that (EASY) mistake too many times and I’m done!
Crisp game play with a really nice, non-intrusive interface. Have played three games and no sign of an ad yet.
I really like this game but it has some glitches that need to be worked out. It sporadically freezes (I think this may be related to the ads, but not sure). Trying to play in landscape mode is a challenge. It loads upside down, the only way to get it right is to close it then open it again. This sometimes works, sometimes it loads with the width of portrait mode so you have to start all over again. Sometimes it can take 5 or 6 try's before you can get it to play correctly and the landscape mode is much nicer to play on. Also resets back to portrait mode so you have to go through this each time you play. Just when you think you have it working and all is well you open it and the stupid do you love gin rummy comes up and screws everything up again. It doesn't matter if you click on it, it will just come up again! Would be no big deal if not for all you have to do for landscape. It's a serious pain.I don't like that it shuts down my audible app when it loads, even with sound off on the app. The game itself is pretty good. I haven't noticed problems with the cards (to many, not enough of a suit, repeated cards that have already been played) that you see on some other games. If they fixed these issues i would give it 5 stars but I've only been playing this a week and these have happened way to often.
I don't like that it freezes up, but other than that it's a great no frills game. Don't have to worry about all the in app purchase crap, just clean card game.
Game is good but sometimes it's all wins or all losses. Needs to even up a little.
Classic Gin Rummy is fun to play, makes me think, and allows me to win sometimes, which is the whole point of gaming. It is easy to learn, with a clean appearance and smooth action. Have had no problems with the interface and the ads are not intrusive. It lets me play my own music without slowing game play. Classic Gin Rummy is a keeper!
This version is fun, except for the annoying glitches. They are: 1. It won’t keep its “orientation” intact, but switches back when you pause or move to another site or app for a short time. 2. When the opposition has first draw, it selects the card so fast that you cannot see what it was. It should leave it on the table to be seen by the opponent. 3. Sometimes the score is registered to the wrong hand. You may win a hand only to have it added to the opponents score. 4. In my 55 years of playing this game, I’ve only twice seen an opponent get a “Gin” on the first draw. It happened 8 times in my first 100 games!! That’s absurb! 5. Don’t bother playing to 100. Your chances of winning are about the same as winning the Power Ball Lottery 3 weeks in a row!
I’d love to rate this higher, but not having a feature to allow music to play while using the app is a big negative. If there is one, I can’t find it. :(
