... but as of 10/25/19: Trying to save data, results in the error message: Failed to write data. Check permissions. — but the permissions are OK. The ssh terminal does no longer accept keyboard input. The file browser shows „Size: 0. Modified (null)“ for all files
Most text editor apps for code on iOS fall short. This one is no different, unfortunately. It doesn’t really support vim keys, it doesn’t allow key mapping or anything approaching customization. This is clearly a lot of good effort, though, and it might be the best I’ve seen in the general text editor category. There are better editors for site design, and for regular text writing (not code) there are boatloads of better editors, but not for just writing code.
Excellent tool for AWS services from an iPad. Full ssh client and sftp based code editor. Editor is comprehensive and full featured. Excellent integration with source repositories. App support is excellent and quick. 5 stars well done.
When I bought this program I thought I can RUN The code,, I would recommend the creators to specify their product. What else to say Im a little sad that I cant cant do programming on an IOS
I have been looking for a code editor for the iPad for some time. There are lots of text editors, Markdown editors, etc. but I wanted something that would do code highlighting, etc. I searched around the web and found several suggestions and bought them all (iOS apps are so inexpensive, that’s easy to do). But what made me start using Buffer was that I kept seeing updates come through the App Store. This isn’t an app that’s been released and abandoned by the developer, it is regularly updated all the time. When I had a question about how to use it, I sent an email and received a prompt reply, even offering more help than I needed. I now have Buffer set up with Working Copy, and it works great! I don’t write many app reviews (not nearly as many as I should) but I definitely wanted to thank this developer for being on-top of things. It saddens me to see several low-star reviews, even after the developer has responded, and often fixed the issue. Maybe people don’t know they can (and should!) update their reviews when things change!
You need to use it with a external keyboard to get the full benefit. It’s a clean / good looking editor. It makes for a great coding tool. I was able to directly connect to my dev Digital Ocean server and modify the files directly. Support was excellent and prompt to answer any of my questions.
I tried to open a file with .VBS extension. It failed to open it! Renamed it to .TXT no problem opening it! I used another app gocoedit. No issue. Deleted this one. Don’t care about refund!
Can you please add backward/forward search on classes and methods please? This would be such a great feature!!
Coda is work ssh/sftp/ftp but buffer editor is not.. maybe encoding issue..
Love this dev, keeps adding features, responds to input! Supports SFTP(among many others), which I need! Use this as a note taking app, which with vim-like is super duper powerful! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR GET THIS AMAZING APP YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!! unless you don’t like vim(web search vim editor if you don’t know what it is, you might just like it).
