Reviews

Best Mapping App Ever
Elk_Ridge_Outdoors

I don’t normally leave reviews but seriously this is a home run of an app. You can download any map you need and track where you are even without cell service. You can save points with decent accuracy and basically have any map you want. Great product!

Download before you go!

I have only used it a few times but when you don’t have cell service this is an absolute legend of a tool. I save maps before a trip and can always identify where I am on the map within a few feet and never get lost.

Works very well.

We have used this tracking program in The Black Hills and in Yellowstone NP. It has help us several times in finding features in the area. I would recommend it.

A game-changer for the serious outdoors person

As a hiker who has hiked all of NH’s White Mountains, the maps available through Avenza are a significant upgrade from paper maps. And, just saw that nautical charts are free.

Have to buy maps???!!!
constitution upholder

I thought this would be great to pin all my traps for this year’s trapping season but I’d have to buy the NYS atlas which I have already bought in real life??!! Come on this is crap. Not paying for something 2 times so in short as quickly as this downloaded it was deleted. Rip off indeed

Amazing

What a great application. Have enjoyed it countless times hiking and it has been excellent with guiding me with GPS.

Good but clunky

The initial set was harder than it should have been. I’ve used it a couple times in the back woods and the maps so far have been great. Roads were spot on and very clear.

Solid App Support
WaywardHiker

Latest update has performance problems on my iPad. Not sure why, but the latest update has “broken” the map view. By “broken” I mean that when I select a map, the map displays quickly, but you cannot interact (pan/zoom) with the map for 20+ or more seconds. I submitted a support ticket with Avenza. —————- Older: I may have some issues with how Avenza handled the custom maps transition with limiting how many you could have without a pricy subscription. That is a marketing decision, and there are other factors that can be important to consider. Based on my experiences in interacting with their support team, I have found that Avenza has a solid support team and development team behind them. Case in point, iOS 11.3 came out and I discovered shortly after updating, that I could not create placemarks on a map. The app crashed when creating a placemark. This was a real issue for me, as I do this often when planning hikes for parking and such. I reached out to Avenza via their support site and was quickly informed that the the company was aware of the issue and working on a fix. And, they were. Within a day the update was available and the issue that I experienced has been corrected. To me this speaks a lot for a company in how they interact with their customers.
