Chat doesn't sync with gmail – Phone for Google Voice & GTalk Review

The only reason I downloaded this app was so that I could receive work-related IMs on my iPhone, when away from my desk. So far, I can send an IM using the app, but a coworker's response doesn't push to the app/phone. Not sure why.
