Great news source, terrible app

I’ve gone back and forth with the IT people than I have spent on the app. Their customer service is nice but I’m essentially paying 2.99 to go back and forth with these people. Nothing got resolved and not worth it. There are plenty of other news sources out there that you don’t have to pay for.

Just like the rest of us, writers deserve to be paid for the content they create. Both advertisements and subscriptions are the key sources of revenue $$$ to pay those creative reporters/digest writers. Much better than selling ones soul to the highest bidder, as at FOX NEWS. Need I explain more?

As of this review, this app is great and very close to perfection. Just a few design-isms will make it more of a joy to use on a regular basis. WHAT I LOVE: - variety of news topics and the easily digestible format for reading about them - calendar feature (so I can be “in the know” on certain holidays or milestones before I show up to work) - the mix of media: short audio stories, longer reads, and quick bites make this app extremely flexible to fill any time bracket. - the humor interspersed throughout the app makes me chuckle. - the biggest thing: it feels a tad feminine, like I’m getting the news from my favorite worldly aunt, which is good for me as most other news sites feel very aggressive (and more masculine?). I dunno - hard to describe but it’s the special mojo here and I LOVE it. WHAT CAN BE IMPROVED: - controlling more settings and reading more meta content within the app. I’d like to be able to choose “do not sell my data” from within the app itself. Same with navigating FAQs and ToS. - tighten up the leading on the text, as even with an 8+ I have to scroll a lot to see each article’s description and only one or one and a half articles for my viewport at a time. Maybe offer a large font and small font (with tighter leading) view? - dark mode. Come on, it’s 2020. Where is it? - navigation is not quite as polished as it could be. The navigation tray at the bottom is fine, but again could get more viewport space if you hamburgered it. I’ll most likely purchase an annual subscription once my trial expires as I really feel this app serves a useful purpose, and I’m already telling my friends about it.
Serious problems

I cannot read the daily skimm. Every time I touch “read more” button, It doesn’t work and the app is turned off. This should be corrected. If not, I want to refund it.
Password resets not working

Been using for 2 days now, & I can already say this is the best app for keeping up-to-date on the news without being bombarded with information. It’s summarized, unbiased, & quick to read in the morning. I love it
Updated articles are needed

I wish I could rate this higher because I like the style of the writing and the concept very much. But, I am frustrated at the lack of updates on important issues. For example it is August 2020 and the Co-Vid link is from an article published in March. So many things have changed since March. For this app to be at its best, it needs to be updating its information.

About two months ago I started having real problems with my daily skimm. Could not access it, my password was lost in the system, could never reset it, the daily stopped landing in my inbox each morning, and now I cannot access my account at all. I communicated this to The Skimm, and was told "sorry" and that you were working on it. "No problem!" I thought. Except nothing has been fixed. I am supporter and love female founders but at this point why am I paying for something I cannot use? Best, SM
