used to love it.

i loved this app for years and used it religiously, but lately it’s become too difficult. gifs with audio should be pretty standard by now but narhwal doesn’t play them in-app. the video player is constantly breaking and glitching out, right now it won’t play any audio with videos. the version history shows only occasional bug fix updates, but this app desperately needs a rebuild (as was teased 2 years ago) and new feature set in order to stay relevant to what’s actually happening on reddit. i would love to come back if a true new version ever ends up releasing but until then, i’m switching to Apollo.

Redgifs don’t play
el duderino

Read the subject. With the change in allowable content on gif hosting sites, redgifs aren’t loading in the app. FYI.

Drains battery running in background
DMM1224

Had to uninstall after I noticed it’s running 3+ hours in the background when my screen activity is only 42 minutes. Took 15% of my battery life too.

App is ruined thanks to ads
Gylth

This app used to be amazing - the BEST iPhone app for Reddit by leagues. Ads were dispersed among posts, but whatever no big deal. Recent updates have made it terrible because the ads now cover your entire screen occasionally, making you hit the little X at the top AND/OR start auto-playing audio ads, like which just happened to me when a freaking “Free Private Cams” website started playing at work. Stop bombarding people with stupid ads and maybe this app will be the gold standard again. Right now it’s just another crappy Reddit app that constantly annoys you with ads until you buy their app.

Best reddit app I’ve found.

I’m not one to leave a review typically, but this app is my most used by far and it deserves praise. The most used functions of reddit such as browsing and sorting through posts and comments are nicely designed and intuitive to navigate on both my iPhone and iPad. Though there are a multitude of options in menus and sub menus that I personally found confusing at times, there is no doubt you can make the app as simple or complex as you’d like. Signing into my reddit account was easy and has me replying to comment threads or scrolling through my favorite subs in no time. The developers constantly make minor tweaks and subtle improvements that keep the app running smooth as silk. My only gripe is going through my comment history and not being able to pull up the original post from my comment alone, but rather I would have to select the OP’s profile and scroll through to the post to open it. A minor inconvenience that I don’t feel warrants a less than 5-star review from me. Overall, if you’re looking for a great reddit browser for your iPhone or iPad, look no further than Narwhal.

Used to be great. No GARBAGE.

With some recent update, I’ll be looking at any number of different reddit articles, and this EXTREMELY ANNOYING video ad will pop up over everything, happening multiple times over every video. It plays every few seconds and must be swiped away. I even have paid for the permanent removal of ads. I have used Narwhal for a while, and loved it. This new development is so ridiculous, I will be deleting Narwhal as soon as I find something that is comparable.

My favorite reddit app
special-character

I like this app much more than the official one and Apollo app. It feels more natural and I like the UI

Almost perfect

I think this app is one of the best ways of browsing reddit on my iPad. However, there is one complain I have: The left sidebar, where you scroll through the list of posts in a sub, is just too narrow. There is the <-> icon at the top of the screen, but, from what I can tell, it can only be used to make the comments section on the right even bigger, but there is no way to make the topic section on the left any bigger than a narrow bar. Since every post title takes up multiple vertical lines, you can see fewer of them on the screen at once, and it takes a lot more scrolling to get through a sub than it would if there was a way to make the list wider (so that each topic takes up only one). I would like to see: - An option to at least split the screen 30/70, 50/50, or 70/30, between the topics list and comments view. This could be done by simply adding a couple more buttons at the top, near the existing one. - And/or I think it would be nice to be able to use a horizontal 2 finger swipe gesture to slide the divider back and forth (essentially doing what the <-> is doing, only adding the ability to 2-finger swipe to the right to shrink comments and expand topics list). - An option or button to set it so that the posts/topics list takes up a majority of the screen while you’re scrolling through it, until you tap on a post, which will automatically expand the article/comments side of the screen.

The BEST
Mr.Haboubi1988

The best reddit app imo Highly recommended.

would be 5* if it weren’t for Music bug, please fix
k bizzzzzle

Please, for the love of god, fix the bug that causes this app to stop my music from playing. This is the best reddit app but having to close it and start my music over and over is infuriating. Closing your app and reopening it will fix it, until it inevitably starts again once I’m halfway down my feed. I don’t know a lot about coding or the way that iOS functions but I assume it’s incorrectly telling the phone that it’s playing audio when it’s not, which supersedes other music apps in the background. I’ve tried this and had the same experience with Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play Music.
